Sadly this is still occurring. A judicial officer yesterday advised they had never heard of this. I guess they can pick and choose what rights they want to take away from my clients. He must get on an airplane and come to court, but no he cannot have a trial.

A lot of court personnel do not understand the court rules. I call on their supervisors to make sure they understand if they are going to go to work and order attorneys and individuals to come to court in direct violation of emergency rule 5.

48 hours later, nothing has changed but enlarging and extending the curve via the criminal justice system. Most judges are calling in sick. Others will enter through their private oasis tomorrow. By order, I will be in Torrance as well as Long Beach courts to continue cases. What a shame. As a note, thank you for everyone’s concern about my son, which was not the intent of my post. He is doing much better. I wish I could say the same for the countless individuals that have needlessly been exposed by going to court.

In Redondo Beach you can be put in jail for six months for renting out a room in your house for the weekend. In downtown LA, you can be put in jail as a business and property owner if your elevator is out. (Yes, I currently represent normally law abiding citizens for those violations in real criminal courtrooms.) But if you want to live on a public sidewalk outside the courthouse, have at it. Whether it is enactment or enforcement, cities and government just can’t seem to get it together.
