Dear Y Community, Over the past 24 hours, the State of California and the City of Los Angeles have taken significant steps to keep the public safe as the Novel ...Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to spread. Early Sunday evening, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti ordered the closure of all bars, nightclubs, restaurants (except takeout/delivery), entertainment venues, gyms and other establishments in the City of Los Angeles effective midnight, March 15 through March 31. As a result of this action, all 26 branches of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles will be closed for all healthy lifestyle activities. Our branch offices will be open to address all business related matters (please check branch webpages for updated hours) and we will be addressing any maintenance issues that have been noted in branches. We will be conducting a deep cleaning and disinfecting all of our branches prior to reopening. It has been a dizzying week of change for all of us. We recognize that these actions are necessary to help prevent the spread of this virus. We also know that the programs that we run are important for our members and participants, and they contribute to making the community a better place. In an effort to help keep things as normal as possible, we will be paying all of our staff for the next week. We are hopeful that you will be patient during this unprecedented time. We ask that you please keep your membership active so we can keep our community together and vibrant during these significant challenges. We will be rolling out online classes for our members later this week so you can continue to keep your mind and body healthy. We are hopeful that these significant precautions will help stem the spread of the virus and that we can begin to return to our normal routines soon. Thank you and stay healthy. The partnership will provide our youth with full soccer kits, special Y access to Dignity He...alth Sports Park for Galaxy games throughout the MLS season and special funding by the club to support youth soccer at select LA Y branches.
