Yikes... yesterday, the City of Pasadena was forced to close the pickleball courts at Allendale Park due to users' failure to follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines. https://www.pasadenanow.com//pickleball-courts-closed-at-/ Archers using the range in the Lower Arroyo have been doing a great job following the guidelines -- thanks and please keep it up so the range stays OPEN! Please note that the City also requires archers to hold a City Safety Certification card. We are now offering the City Cert class by appointment under COVID-19 guidelines -- email us at [email protected] to get on the schedule!
Good news if you are waiting for your City Safety Certification to use the archery range -- we received word from the city today that they mailed a big batch of cards out this week. Need to get your City Safety Certification? Email us at [email protected] to schedule a class. Classes happen outside at the range, socially distanced, with masks, and with no more than two students at a time. For that reason, please be patient as we accommodate all interested archers under COVID-19 restrictions!
Happy Memorial Day weekend, archers! Remember these rules to help keep the range open for all to enjoy! As an FYI, the City still requires a City Safety Cert to use the range. Police and City staff are monitoring the area on a daily basis. PRA is not able to operate City Cert classes for the time being due to COVID-19 limitations on gathering, but we are working with the City on alternative ways to certify the public. Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! Thanks to @pasadenaparksandrec for the infographic! #archery #pasadena #rovingarchers #pasadenarovingarchers #thankyou #safetyfirst
Happy Saturday, Archers! According to the City's newly updated Recreation Amenity Guidance page, the range is open as of today, May 16! Please read up on the rules associated with COVID-19 precautions at the link below. And remember, a City Safety Certification is still required to use the range. We will get the word out if the City is able to make any accommodations for expired credentials while COVID-19 prevents PRA from offering the class. ... Happy shooting! https://www.cityofpasadena.net//recreation-amenity-guidan/
CLARIFICATION! ***Range to re-open soon according to City officials*** We have received clarification from the City's Parks and Recreation Department that the range IS NOT open at this time. They are in the process of preparing for the re-opening of recreational facilities, which should be announced later this week or early next week.... Our website has been updated to reflect this information. We're sorry for the too-early jubilation. We look forward to seeing you from a good distance soon! https://www.rovingarchers.com/lower-arroyo-archery-range-o/
EDIT: Please see post regarding the CLARIFICATION we got from the City after the time of this post. The range IS NOT YET OPEN but should be soon. BREAKING NEWS, ARCHERS! Please read up on the orders and protocols before heading out. Stay safe and ENJOY! ... https://www.rovingarchers.com/lower-arroyo-archery-range-o/
The range isn't open yet, but there are signs that it may be possible in the coming weeks. We'll keep you posted when we know more. Hope the archery community out there is doing well and staying in shooting shape! Excerpted from the article: https://www.pasadenastarnews.com//pasadena-to-reopen-rose/ "Groups and organized activities are not allowed at the loop or the trails. In fact, it’s now against the rules to go to either of these places with anyone who’s not in your hou...sehold, according to the city. The council didn’t decide what to do about the city’s other recreational activities, such as disc golf, pickleball, archery, tennis and the ilk. Those topics will come up for consideration during next week’s meeting, Human Services and Recreation Director Brenda Harvey-Williams told officials on Monday."
We've received word from City of Pasadena officials that the range is officially closed. We extend our best wishes to our close-knit archery community and hope you're all staying safe and healthy at home. https://www.rovingarchers.com/lower-arroyo-archery-range-o/
Our friends at Woodley Park Archers have suffered an additional hardship among all the other difficulties our communities are experiencing right now. From President Wayne Shaphran's statement: "On March 17, 2020 around midnight, our short range bale wall structure burned to the ground. Our Woodley Park Archery Range is one of the very few all volunteer maintained and supported, free public archery ranges in the country. Since 1984, our club has introduced thousands and thousa...nds of students to the sport of archery through our Woodley Park Archers Introductory Archery Program we run for the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. On a weekly basis, hundreds of members of the community enjoy shooting archery for free at our public archery range. Please help us to raise enough money to rebuild our short range! Thank you for your generosity and support!" https://www.gofundme.com/f/woodley-park-archers-short-range PRA had a similar misfortune with our own clubhouse several decades ago, and we enjoyed the support and camaraderie of the incredible archery community during that and other challenges through the years. If you can afford to, please consider donating to Woodley Park's reconstruction fundraiser and thank you for all your kindness!
Sadly, PRA must suspend all activities and events until further notice in response to Coronavirus advisories. We are keeping close tabs on the development of the situation and will update you with any changes on our website and Facebook page. If you have a reservation for a March class, you will be given a rain check for a future date. We will contact you with further details when available.... Please note that this includes postponement of PRA's Oak Tree 3-D Tournament that was scheduled for March 29, 2020. We will post a new date as soon as possible. The range will continue to stay open to the public until further notice by the relevant authorities. Please remember to display your City Safety Credential while using the range. We thank you for your understanding, support, and cooperation with our efforts to help keep PRA safe and healthy for all. We're sending our best wishes to the archery community and hope that we'll get to shoot with you all soon. #archery #pasadena #rovingarchers #pasadenarovingarchers #volunteerpower #wereallinthistogether #washyourhands #thankyou
Can't make it to the range? Brady lays out what you can still do at home. We'll get through this!
Saturday 03/14/20: All PRA activities are CANCELLED due to weather. This includes First-Timer Archers Class, Returning Archers Class, Advanced Competitive Group Class, JOAD practice, and scheduled range maintenance work. Updates related to PRA activities and Coronavirus precautions are forthcoming soon. Thanks for your understanding and stay safe out there!
PRA pride time! Did you know that PRA runs exclusively on volunteer power? We know it’s tough to get into our popular free First-Timer Class, but persistence pays off (most of our dedicated members can attest to the tenacity it took to get into their first class)! We thank the community for its vocal support of our beloved club, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the beautiful public range we maintain. Our goal is to share our love of archery with everyone who wants to learn and ...we hope you’ll join us in thanking a volunteer whenever you see them at work beautifying the range, organizing paperwork, managing crowds, teaching classes, taking care of equipment, and all the hours of behind-the-scenes labor that allows us to offer archery opportunities to everyone! #pasadenarovingarchers #prapride #volunteerpower #thankyou #pasadena #rovingarchers #community #thegreatoutdoors #lowerarroyoseco #lowerarroyopark See more
