It’s National School Counseling Week! This year's theme is "School Counselors: All In for All Students," and is being celebrated from February 1-5, 2021, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. Parlier Unified School District would like to thank our school counselors for the immense impact they have on our students, their successes, and plan for a career. This is a special week to honor school counselors who imple...ment comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century. They are actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today's world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students' academic, postsecondary and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic, and optimistic aspirations for themselves. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total education program. Help us in showing our appreciation to our school counselors this week!

It’s that time of year again when the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season is upon us. These are times that can generate new traditions and create important memories for your family. This is also a great time of year for our students to learn about community service projects and kindness towards others. We are hoping to spread kindness and caring throughout Parlier and other parts of the County and world. That being said, we want to thank organizations like Educational Employees Credit Union - Selma branch and Uplift Family Services for spreading the kindness to our students in the community. Thank you for your continued support of Parlier Unified School District. Happy Holidays!

The newest addition to our fleet arrived this week. This bus is a 2021 Blue Bird Transit bus that seats up to 81 passengers. The district acquired this bus valued at $184,000.00 at no cost to the district through The Fresno County Transportation Authority's (FCTA) Measure "C" school bus replacement grant. The 2021 school bus was granted to us to replace our 1990 Chevy van conversion school bus that is valued at $900.00 with a maximum seating capacity of 8 passengers. During the week of November 9-13, 2020 schools throughout the United States will celebrate National School Psychology Week (NSPW) to highlight the important work school psychologists and other educators do to help all students thrive. This year's theme is "The Power of Possibility." The word "possibility" implies hope, growth, resilience and renewal. Possibility suggests that even something as small as a seed can grow into something magnificent. The word "power" implies that things can and will happen. When we focus on what is possible, we have hope that students will grow, thrive and bloom. Help us thank our school psychologists for all they do for our students and our staff, especially during this pandemic and distance learning. #ThankASchoolPsychologist #NSPW

CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH The idea for Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated throughout the latter half of September and first half of October, began as a way to promote the history, culture and contributions of Hispanic-Americans. Specifically those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Communities mark the achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans with festivals and educational activities.
