Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money again this year for Palm Springs Black History Committee. Let's show our support for a local organization helping our local community. Some of their events and programs: Black History Parade and Town Fair, Queens Pageant, Art Installation at Palm Springs Art Museum, Awards Gala, Gospel Fest, Parade and Town Fair, Education Nights with PSUSD, purchase Kente Cloth Graduation Sashes for a 150 Black and Bi racial Gradu...ating Seniors, Black History Caravan this year and a Vigil at the George Floyd Mural. Palm Springs Black History Committee is an all volunteer 501c(3) organization. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. Facebook pays all the processing fees for you, so 100% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit. See more

From Palm Springs Police Department, CA City of Palm Springs encourages citizens to keep your pets cool during summer Summer temperatures can get unbearably hot in the Coachella Valley, but they can get downright deadly for pets left in a vehicle, even just for a few minutes and it’s also illegal. Palm Springs Municipal Code PSMC 10.22.020 prohibits animals from being left unattended in a vehicle any time of the year.... It is unlawful to leave your dog or cat unattended in an enclosed vehicle and any animal found left unattended will be removed immediately by an animal control officer and taken to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, said Chief of Police Bryan Reyes, who oversees Animal Control. In addition, the owner may be fined and liable for any impound fees and costs. This is a serious offense and we ask that citizens take the well being of their pets responsibly. During summer it is also important to remember to avoid walking dogs on hot pavement, if it is too hot for you to feel comfortable, it is too hot to walk your dog.

From Palm Springs City Manager Justin Clifton: Our order defers to the state. Thus far the state has only changed guidelines for vaccinated persons when outdoors and not in large crowds. The governor has indicated likely changes to indoor mask rules by June 15th but he has already vacillated on exactly what that means. Because of the change to mask rules outdoors for those who are vaccinated, much of the signage around town referring to masks required indoors and outdoors is being removed. But signs that businesses have on windows indicating that masks are required indoors per local order are still accurate because the city order defers to the state and the state requires masks indoors, at least for now.
