I love the beginning of new years by the end of the first week of January, I’ve usually had an opportunity to review the past 12 months in terms of personal and professional accomplishments and am ready to tackle the new year with gusto! For me personally, this January is going to look quuuuuuuuuuite a bit different as my family prepares for the arrival of our little boy in about a week and a half. Don’t worryI’ll make sure to share photos of our little bundle of joy after... he makes his appearance. But in general, January is a great time to sit down and review your business’s Legal, Insurance, Financial, and Tax (LIFT) foundations to make sure you don’t have any holes that could leave you, and everything you’ve worked so hard for, at risk. In terms of your Legal foundation, one area that is often overlooked, or considered less important, by busy business owners are legal contracts and agreements. This is especially important as it relates to your employees and independent contractors, but is also important for your customers (especially if they try to get out of paying you for your goods or services) and vendors.
