The Pacific School Foundation/Parent's Club has been working hard on creating a yearbook for this school year. The 2020-2021 yearbook is ready for ordering! The past few yearbooks can be ordered as well in case you missed ordering in previous years. All proceeds over cost go to support Pacific School. Order before 5pm on Thursday May 6th. Message from Mr. Gross about Reopening and Important Survey Pacific Elementary is planning to increase the number of students receiving in-person instruction on campus as well as increasing the number of days of in-person instruction on campus. Kindergarten through 3rd grade will resume the week of March 8th and 4th-6th grades will resume the week of March 22nd. ... Instruction will be during the mornings and end at lunchtime. The exact beginning and ending times will be staggered to avoid congestion. Instruction will be outside as much as practical. There will not be a Recreation program (child care) after classes. We will assess the success of this approach and perhaps expand the number of days/week after spring break. We will send more details as the plan gets developed. Knowing your intentions about whether you feel comfortable sending your child(ren) back to school will help us to fine tune this plan, so please respond to the survey sent to parents on 2/19/21. Our Wonderful School Library!!! The Pacific School Library is Open with Two Great Ways to Get Books! Option 1: Come to Librarian Doña Bumgarner's office hours from Noon to 2:30 on Wednesdays. You can come to the lunchroom door and she will help you find books you are interested in.... Option 2: Students can now log in to the Pacific School library system remotely to request books and check the status of their accounts. The Librarian will be on campus each Wednesday to process requests, and you will be able to pick up your books (2 books for K-2 students, 4 for 3-6th) in book bags from the bin in front of the school office each week. Books will be due two weeks from check out - look for the printout in your library book bag for the due date and all titles to be returned. Census forms due by September 30th! The information is used for the distribution of federal funds to communities for the next 10 years. I am writing to share very important information about an event that is currently taking place: The U.S. Census. The census is a count of all people living in the United States and takes place every 10 years. It is simple and confidential to complete. For the first time, you can respond online. You should have received a unique identifying n...umber in the mail, which will allow you to fill out the online form beginning in March 2020. It will ask questions about your household such as how many people reside in your home, date of birth, race, and sex. Here are some things you should know: Your identity remains anonymous. Any personal information you provide on the census form is protected by law and cannot be shared with anyone or any other federal agency. Regardless of your immigration status, the information cannot be used against you or to invade the privacy of you or any members of your family. The census is important. The census is important because it helps to decide how much federal money our schools will get over the next 10 years, and how much money our state will get for our parks, neighborhood improvements, public health, transportation, and many other programs and services. This means federal funding for school nutrition programs and supports for students with special needs, who come from poverty, who are learning English, for disadvantaged students to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards and have a well-rounded education The census is safe. All data collected through the census is protected under Title 13 of the U.S. Code. Records are confidential for 72 years by law. All U.S. Census Bureau employees swear a lifetime oath to protect respondent information. The U.S. Census will never share a respondent’s personal information with other government agencies. Data is only released in summary tables; no individual records are released. The penalty for wrongful disclosure is up to five years imprisonment and/or a fine of $250,000. What do you need to do?
