Achieve Brain & Spine

On August 5th, we crossed the one year mark of opening Achieve Brain and Spine in Santa Monica. This past year, my partner Dr. Daniel T. Nagasawa, our practice Manager Nicole Miranda, Medical Assistant Flor Higera and I have been so fortunate to be able to bring our vision to life. This vision is providing access to the whole community and treat them with the dignity everyone deserves when they are in need of Neurosurgery care. I would like to thank our families in their su...pport as well as our colleagues who have trusted us with the care of their patients. Most of all, I thank our patients and their families for the trust they place in our hands to guide their surgical and non surgical care. Many people are in a fortunate situation and are able to access quality health care whenever necessary. As this pandemic has shown, there are disparities that are not too far below the surface. In the medical world, there is a great divide in what type of benefits certain insurances offer and where the patients have to go to get them. Sometimes someone has insurance in name only and they can’t get access to specialized care when they need it other than in the emergency room. Even there, they can be stabilized and sent home and then return when the damage is too far gone. During our first year we are working hard to break this cycle and have prevailed in helping people with cancer, spinal cord injury, spine infections, brain hemorrhage, and people with disk related pain. We have provided care in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Culver City and have partnered with hospitals that allow us to treat all patients in network with their insurance plans. Now more than ever, patients are at the mercy of what their finances can allow when they seek medical attention. The legacy of historical inequality of access to medical system still lingers and Achieve Brain and Spine has been committed to breaking this history with a commitment to the community and equality for all since its formation. We as physicians need patients as much as patients need us. We will never forget this basis of trust as it forms the foundation of healing for our patients.

Dr. Khosla and Dr. Nagasawa have been committed to continuing patient care through the pandemic. Neurosurgery is not a field that can take time off.
