As a courtesy reminder, from now through May 1st, the City of Oxnard’s Recreation Department is accepting canned and boxed food donations in collaboration with Feed805 and Food Share to provide assistance to the residents in our community. For more information, please see the attached flyer below.

As a friendly reminder, a few of our YDC group members will be at Wilson Senior Center from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to promote the Oxnard Recreation and Feed805 canned and boxed food collection. Stop by and donate some goods!

2020 Santa’s Workshop looked a little different, but the great news is we visited 3 locations this week and distributed almost 1,200 toys to Oxnard residents. Toy distributions were held at Del Sol Park, Oxnard PAL at Southwinds, and College Park. Navy Federal Credit Union employees have provided Oxnard’s youth with a series of videos of their staff reading books that highlight financial literacy. Through...out this week, we will be posting videos from the credit union which target the age-range of kindergarten through 12th grade. Today’s book is Un Sillón Para Mi Mama, por Vera B Williams. It’s appropriate for grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Take a look!

Oxnard PAL gave away about 500 bags of school supplies in the Southwinds neighborhood this weekend. The event was sponsored by Councilmember Vianey Lopez and So...uthwinds Neighborhood Council Chair Carolina Gallardo-Magana and completed in collaboration with Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and the Southwinds Neighborhood Council. Great turnout at our Southwinds PAL School Supply & Resource Distribution at the Southwinds PAL Center this past Saturday. Special thank you to our host sponsors: Council-member, Vianey Lopez and Southwinds Neighborhood Council Chair, Carolina Gallardo-Magaña. With their help, we were able to supply 1,000 bags filled with school supplies. Thank you to The Port of Hueneme for feeding our volunteers and staff, Viva Oxnard for the bookmarks and Gold Coast Health Plan for the pe...ncil bags. Also, thank you to our Annual Sponsors: Southwest Carpenters Union, and Reyes Coca Cola Bottling. Finally, thank you to our event partners: Assemlymber Jacqui Irwin, Southwinds Neighborhood Council, and the Oxnard Water Division.

Oxnard PAL will be out again tomorrow handing out free school supplies. This time in the Southwinds Neighborhood. If you have not already signed up, please come by closer to 12:00pm as earlier spots have been filled. We also want to thank all of the programs that have donated supplies and given fliers to keep our community informed.

We are up and running! Homework Centers are now available at 3 locations. If your child just needs a quiet place to get their work done or a little extra help with assignments you can register online for your nearest center. Our staff is available to help elementary students with assignments, however, all students grades K-12 can register to utilize the homework center.
