Please join us in supporting our International Orthopaedic research and education organization: https://givingtogether.ucsf.edu/fundraiser/2970535 Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology (IGOT) This year, the world hit an unexpected challenge- COVID19. This barrier also caught us by surprise. The main components of our International educational program and research relied on international travel. However, we did not let this stop us. We shifted our focus to online... resources- creating virtual SMART courses and expanding our Learning Portal. We took the lemon of this year and made something bigger. We realized that through this challenge, we can turn it into an opportunity to reach more people in more countries! Recommended donation levels: $100 can help add illustration and video resources for online portal $200 can help keep up the online portal for a month $300 can host an entire 2 hours webinar $1000 can help us to host multiple webinars and focus on different regions around the world to increase access We need your support more than ever. Help us expand our program to the virtual world and reach more surgeons to save more lives!

Air quality in San Francisco, Oakland, and Fresno continues to change based on conditions between moderate, unhealthy for sensitive groups, unhealthy and very unhealthy. Forecasts suggest current poor air quality conditions could persist over the weekend and into next week. Tips to Protect Yourself Against Smoke The best way to protect yourself from poor air quality on smoky days is to:... Stay indoors with doors and windows closed At home, use a HEPA filter if possible to maintain a clean-air safe room Stay hydrated by drinking water during heavy smoke events Avoid adding air pollution by curtailing wood burning, barbecuing, etc. Set air conditioning units and care vent systems to re-circulate air to prevent outside air from coming inside Use a HEPA filter if possible to maintain a clean-air safe room Stay informed by signing up for alerts in your area Check the air quality index (AQI) in their area by visiting the Environmental Protection Agency’s AirNow website https://www.airnow.gov

Dr. Meir Marmor's Book - Decision Making in Orthopaedic Trauma Order information: Domestic orders: Please contact [email protected] International and E-book orders: https://www.thieme.com//4198-decision-making-in-orthopaedi... Description: Unique decision-tree format provides rapid decision-making tool covering a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries Few if any medical fields share the complexity of injuries and the number of available treatments that exist in orthopaedic trauma. Deciding on the most efficacious treatment can often be difficult. In this digital age with a tsunami of medical information and conflicting data on numerous approaches, practitioners who treat orthopaedic trauma often find it problematic to make "evidence-based" choices. Decision Making in Orthopaedic Trauma is the largest compendium of orthopaedic trauma algorithms assembled to date. The decision trees cover a broad spectrum of cases - from simple isolated fractures - to severe, life-threatening conditions. The decisions on which action to perform in each situation are largely based on the personal experiences of the individual authors, all members of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) / Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) Orthopaedic Trauma Institute. When the decisions are supported by published scientific literature, the relevant publications are cited. Visually appealing, easy-to-comprehend decision trees detail underlying pathologies, suspected diagnoses, required imaging studies, possible treatment approaches, rehabilitation, expected outcomes, and postsurgical care. The format is more conducive to swiftly acquiring knowledge and making informed decisions than traditional texts and websites. Key Features: *Management of a wide range of emergencies including compartment syndrome, open fractures, peripheral nerve injuries, mangled extremities, and multiple trauma *Perioperative care - from acute and chronic pain management - to venous thromboembolism prevention and the use of regional anesthesia *Major sections organized by anatomic region cover upper extremity, lower extremity, pelvic, hip, and spine trauma *Clinical pearls on the management of osteoporotic, neoplastic, and periprosthetic fractures and fracture complications *Impacted anatomy, differential diagnoses, and possible approaches visualized through high-quality color illustrations and radiographs *Consistent color scheme differentiates actions, imaging, and rehabilitation guidelines *Appendices provide a quick reference on imaging, bracing, and rehabilitation recommendations This uniquely formatted, visually rich book will enable surgeons, physicians, and residents to understand and apply critical decisions to a wide range of fractures, dislocations, nerve injuries, and musculoskeletal complications.
