It's raining, make sure you turn your headlights on with your windshield wipers. Especially if you have a gray car. A gray car in the rain without headlights on is more difficult to see then a Klingon Bird of Prey. If you don’t know what a Klingon Bird of Prey is, there’s one pictured below, thankfully it has its headlights on. Be safe out there. #rain #startrek #nerdalert

Alright, now that spring is over and winter is back again, we’ve got snow in the foothills and mountains. Snow is beautiful, and exciting, like a tiger. But also like a tiger, snow can hurt you, and your vehicle. Please stay away from bad weather and try not to drive in it unless absolutely necessary. This photo was taken in Concow, CA.

Early this morning, around 3:00AM, Oroville CHP received reports of an injured man in the wildlife area. The man called for help with the last of his phone battery. He stated he was lost and had injured his ankle and knee. Unable to find him by car, Oroville CHP units searched on foot until he was located. After confirming he could not walk on his own, they carried him over a half mile to safety where Cal Fire and Ambulance personnel could provide care. #gotyourback #chpfit #trooper #legday

Oroville CHP units are on scene at a two vehicle fatal traffic collision which occurred on Lincoln Boulevard north of Monte Vista Ave. The collision occurred just after 8:10 this morning. One driver suffered major injuries and a second driver sustained fatal injuries. Please avoid the area as this investigation is ongoing. We appreciate the assistance from Cal Fire, Oroville Fire as well as Butte Count Sheriff and Public Works. This is a reminder to slow down when the roads are wet, please be careful.

A tough day for the family, friends, and coworkers of Officer Andy Ornelas who succumbed to his injuries from a collision on November 23rd. Officer Ornelas had been serving with the CHP for four years. He is survived by his wife, mother, father, sister and brother. Please send your thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and the CHP Antelope Valley area office as they work towards healing from this tragedy.... Rest easy brother, we got it from here.... #CHP

As much as we love to serve this community, we can all agree a break from the smoke and flames would be welcome. Luckily, thanks to a quick response from CalFire, the fire yesterday was extinguished. Grateful to have a partnership with BCSO, Oroville PD, and CalFire so we can swiftly respond and get people in harms way to safety. With wind in the forecast, please refrain from anything to do with fire. Seriously. #Justdont #preventforestfires #readyforrain

As a reminder to everyone... DUI driving is a choice that is completely avoidable and preventable. If faced with the decision to drink and drive this coming Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) for the long Labor Day weekend, remember this story and make the only right decision. #LaborDay2020 #BuzzedDrivingIsDrunkDriving #maketherightchoice #itsnotworthit #DriveHighGetADUI #savealife https://youtu.be/jf0lAR99AbM

Cal fire crews are on scene already working hard to gain control of the Potters Ravine Fire. We are extremely grateful for their efforts to keep our community safe. #calfirefirefighters #calfire #ca_dwr

CHP 10.09.2020

The Potters Fire is burning in the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area just north of Oroville Dam. DWR’s infrastructure is not at risk however to ensure public safety, DWR, State Parks and CHP have closed public access to Oroville Dam road (dam crest road) and the spillway boat launch ramp. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust operations and recreation access as needed.

CHP 05.09.2020

Oroville CHP units are closely monitoring the fire in the Potters Ravine area. Due to the proximity of the fire to the Dam, the Oroville Dam Road (the road traveling across the Oroville Dam) is blocked and we will not be allowing access at this time.

CHP 20.08.2020

Edit: To clear up any confusion, even if you’re not on PRCS, this is against the law. Occurred last night: If you’re carrying over two pounds of Meth, and over a 1/4 pound of Heroin, you’re going to want to obey the traffic laws. Unfortunately for the individual last night, driving wrong way on SR-162 caught the attention of the California Highway Patrol... ... Upon contact, and finding out the driver was on PRCS, in addition to having two felony warrants out of Lassen County, he was placed under arrest. After searching the vehicle, over two pounds of Meth, a quarter pound of Heroin, ammunition, and over three thousand dollars cash was located. Also the materials for selling and distributing drugs was located. Since the driver was on PRCS he wasn’t supposed to have any of this. New charges have been filed, driver booked. #PRCS #maybehewilldobetternexttime
