The nervous system gives us a lens through which we perceive reality. It is the biological tool that allows us to perceive our surroundings, adapt to stimuli and learn so that we can better respond to events in the future. Since conception and the formation of the nervous system, it has played this role. Every experience we encounter is an opportunity to learn, grow and evolve. When we properly integrate these experiences, we reorganize into more complex beings. If an event ...is particularly traumatic or stressful, it sometimes remains unintegrated. We store the experience in the nervous system and the body as potential, or stored energy - stagnant, uncirculating and eventually resulting in symptoms and dis-ease. Many clients come in and talk about the stuff they’ve been carrying around... This is the stuff we’re talking about! The body and the nervous system remember. Mama was also under care and labored for just 10 hours before birthing little Zion at home. We are SO PROUD of this family and honored that they trusted us to check their child. Did you know that feel good, happy emotions and social behaviors naturally emerge with a healthy functioning nervous system? That’s right. Ever heard of the vagus nerve? We’re beginning to find out that this nerve is responsible for A LOT. Like, it’s hard to keep track of all the things this wandering nerve does. One of the most important aspects (and often overlooked) of the vagus nerve is it’s influence on our health and happiness. The vagus nerve is actually made of 2 part...s: the dorsal (posterior) vagus and ventral (anterior) vagus. The dorsal vagus is primitive - an evolutionary remnant that is responsible for our sympathetic or fight-or-flight response. When activated, our body becomes focused solely on survival. Not so fun emotions dominate, such as fear, anxiety, worry, shame, aggression and eventually dissociation. We actually become wired for confrontation and social isolation (i.e. look at the world today). The ventral vagus is a newly formed part of the nervous system, only seen in mammals. When we create safety in our lives, the ventral vagal comes online and our body resumes normal physiology. This means more healing, growth, regeneration, along with proper digestive, immune and metabolic function. Spontaneously, we begin to feel more positive emotions, such as peace, pleasure and love. We think clearly and can have normal social engagement with others. Well, what does this have to do with chiropractic? EVERYTHING. Tonal Chiropractic focuses on the health and function of your nervous system. OUR OTHER HALF! Reintroductions. Part 2. My name is Chris Pruter. I grew up in North County and received my B.A. from the University of Denver in business. After my undergraduate studies, I worked in precious metal trading for a few years. The company I worked for later dissolved and I began searching for a new career path. Having always been interested in health, nutrition and physical movement, I began exploring my options in the healthcare field. Nothing landed, until I sp...oke with a family friend that was a practicing chiropractor. She was the first person to explain to me the chiropractic philosophy. I resonated very deeply with the principles that health and healing come from the life force within us, and when unimpeded we can see profound changes in not only our state of health but our perceptions of the world. I enrolled at Life West Chiropractic College soon after and graduated with my Doctorate of Chiropractic in March 2019. During my studies, I was fortunate to be introduced to mentors who held the innate philosophy of chiropractic at the core of their teaching. I dove deep into the tonal approaches and the full range of applications to effect change in the neuro skeletal tension framework. Everything from how the subtle craniosacral rhythms to biomechanics of the foot can effect the tension in the nervous system. In its simplest terms its the tone or tension you carry in your nervous system that determines how you see and experience the world. The purpose of how I work is to explore how the adjusmtent serves as the application of the core tenants of the chiropractic philosophy, principally being that there is an innate intelligence which orchestrates all function and you are IT.

In today’s world, mainstream medicine is a model that breaks the body down into parts. It looks at the human body as an inanimate machine, where parts can be removed and installed as needed. When the body is hard at work and expressing symptoms, medicine attempts to suppress with pills and potions rather than identify the true cause. It looks at health as something outside-in rather than inside-out. Chiropractic recognizes that the body has an amazing Innate Intelligence.... This organizing intelligence coordinates our heartbeat, breathing, digestion, and chemical balance - all without a conscious thought. It is what heals our cuts and grows a baby from 2 cells in a matter of 9 months. Chiropractors simply seek to remove interference in the nervous system and, in turn, allow for 100% expression of this Intelligence. That being said, there is a place and a time for everything. However, we want you to know that we are here to offer you a different path. A path where you tap into your own inherent wisdom, intuition and power. A path that allows you to express more vitality, awareness and healing capabilities. A path of self-discovery and remembrance. The true healer lies within!

I received my B.S. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I majored in anthropology and biology. Having never been exposed to chiropractic, I never even considered it as a career option. However, after receiving my first adjustment and hearing about the philosophy at age 23 - I decided to switch paths. And, I’M SO GLAD I DID. I enrolled in ch...iropractic school in January 2014 and graduated with my Doctorate of Chiropractic a few years later. It transformed me! Under tonal chiropractic care, everything shifted. I began to understand my body in a whole new way. I saw many changes in the mind and found that I was more able to BE in the present moment. Lastly, I rediscovered my spirituality and developed a strong relationship with God. My partner Chris and I had our first child in December of 2019. We had her at home (in the birthing tub) with the support of our midwives. Her name is Leila and she frequents the office with us. She has been adjusted since day 1 and if you’ve seen her, you can tell! We opened Origin Chiropractic in February 2020, just a few months before lockdown. Thankfully, we are considered an essential business! It’s been a wild few months but it has been such a gift to begin serving those in and around Oceanside. This is the opening looking down from the brain into the space where the spinal cord sits. It is one of the greatest discoveries of our times that the spine co...uld torque, twist and compromise the brain stem. Alter the tension on a guitar string and no matter how great the guitarist, the music just isn’t right. The brain transmits through the spinal cord frequencies at different rates and speeds. Stretch, torque or pull on these tissues and your entire life is altered. Mental, chemical, emotional and spiritual aspects of who you are will be interfered with. This is not been an easy thing to explain to people over the 125 years of chiropractic history. It is however, one of the most important things you will know about the human body.
