One Shot Beyond Photography

I’ve learned that the heart breaks slowly...like waiting for a really large amount of water to evaporate into the air. There is a moment when I believed I could get by without too much damage. This moment revisits me often but always fails to fully execute. There was this one day I took a deep breath and wondered why holding it together seemed tougher than all the other moments before it. I think it’s because the parts of my heart that I kept holding onto (so they wou...ldn’t fall to pieces like shattered bits of glass) had mostly vanished. Without the task of holding it all together I had nothing left to do but feel the emptiness in its totality. It feels as though it happened overnight but it was over months and months of gut wrenching breakdowns that I have finally gotten used to. They feel as normal as putting on my shoes before leaving the house these days. Tonight I had another one of those breakdowns. This one felt a tad bit different. It got me thinking way too much and I came to the conclusion that healing the heart is one of the most daunting things I’ve ever attempted to do.
