Welcome to the UCSF Fresno Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Community Regional Medical Center/Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center. We are a four-year program, fully accredited and approved by the American Dental Association, and currently have a house staff of seven residents. Our parent hospital, Community Regional Medical Center, is the only Level 1 trauma center serving central California and also has the largest and one of the busiest emergency medic...ine departments in the state. With the exception of neurosurgery, we are the only surgical service that treats head and facial trauma. Our faculty and the residents also treat and operate patients at the Children’s Hospital Central California, the Central California VA Medical Center, St. Agnes Medical Center, Kaiser Hospital Fresno, and Clovis Community Medical Center. In addition, roughly 7000 patients per year are treated in our outpatient clinic and this includes roughly 300 patients treated with light IV general anesthesia and/or deep conscious IV sedation. Therefore, our residents treat a large volume of patients and are exposed to a broad scope of surgical procedures before graduating. The surgical scope of our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program includes the following: Trauma, Head and Neck Cancer/Malignancies, Benign Head and Neck Pathology, Microvascular/Head and Neck Reconstruction, Dentoalveolar Surgery, Dental Implants, Outpatient Anesthesia, Facial Cosmetic Surgery, TMJ Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery, Cleft Lip and Palate, and Reconstructive Maxillofacial Surgery.
