Koko's Kitten written by Dr. Francince Patterson

The Montague California Library 16.01.2021

I know some of you in school are reading as a class a book called "The One and Only Ivan." By Katherine Applegate. I wanted to share a special gorilla I'm learning about. Her name was Japanese, Hanabi-Ko. It means Fireworks Child. She was born on the fourth of July. You may have heard of her already. Everybody called her Koko. She was a very famous low-land gorilla who knew sign language. She was born in San Francisco. I found out that she passed away in her sleep on June of 2018 at the age of 46. Please follow her story and Dr. Francine Patterson, the lady that took care of her and taught her Ameslan. Another Gorilla you might want to look up is Harambe. His story ended tragically. Next week I will read to you a book called, "Koko's Kitten."

Here is a nicely read story called My Nana and Me. It is written by Irene Smalls and illustrated by Cathy Ann Johnson. Enjoy it my sweet Butterflies and Bumblebees! Have a sweet weekend.

https://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/lib/webform/zip-books-program Hi all! Just a quick bit of info. when you are returning your Zip Book to the library: Please make sure you put it in a plastic bag with a paperclip holding the three or so receipts the book came with. Thank you. It will make things easier to scan and set aside as the zip book that it is and help with following Covid-19 Amazon/Zip Book/Library rules. Have a nice day!
