It's been a long time since I've added any photos to this page. It's been treated like a forgotten toy. I've moved back to northern California where the weather is cooler and the folks are friendly. But, I haven't forgotten the town where I was raised and began my first career as a journalist and photographer. Here's to you, Anaheim!
This is what replaced my old town. View looking southeast across Lincoln Avenue (formerly Center Street) at the east end of the Anaheim Towne Center, including the Safeway Supermarket; image shows Anaheim City Hall and the tower of the Pickwick Hotel in the background.
This is the Anaheim I grew up knowing. There were lots of stores to shop in and the clerks were friendly. View looking east on Lincoln Ave. (formerly Center Street), from Lemon Street, after dark and with the Christmas decorations lit; visible at right, center is the DeSure Furniture Store (124 West Lincoln).
The old Sunkist Association packing house, on S. Anaheim Blvd. and E. Santa Ana St., is being rehabed for shops and stuff. I remember when it was a very busy place, women packing oranges, the sounds of the machinery and the smell of oranges filling the air. The old place will be filled with other smells and sounds, but it will still be standing.
This is a great article!
I am previewing properties for several clients.
