As we close out our week focusing on love and marriage, we direct our invitation to the CHILDREN of married couples. Para cerrar nuestra semana enfocada en la Palabra de Dios, pensamos compartir algunas actividades para familias con niños. 1. Busquen obras de arte que sean representativas de los pasajes de las Escrituras. Compartan estas ilustraciones con sus niños y platiquen sobre ellas. Por ejemplo, a continuación está una imagen de una famosa escultura de Jesus el Buen Pastor. Puedes leer la historia bíblica y platicar con tus niños sobre cómo les hace sentir cuando ven la imagen, comp...artir información sobre el artista, etc. 2. Pueden buscar juegos de mesa relacionados con la Biblia y jugar con ellos en familia. Existen muchas opciones en el Internet, así como instrucciones sobre cómo hacer tus propios juegos de mesa. 3. ¿Les dan regalos a sus familias en ocasiones de cumpleaños, bodas, Navidad, etc.? Deja que tus niños te ayuden a decidir a quién le gustaría recibir una Biblia como regalo. 4. Comparta tu pasaje o historia bíblica favorita y después pídele a tu hijo que haga un dibujo que puedas exhibir en el refrigerador o en el lugar donde usualmente colocas las obras de arte de tus niños. (Saint Francis de Sales) It seems so simple, but in reality, choosing to love takes work, and doing it well requires commitment and practice. It is not enough simply to speak the words. Our actions need to show it. Remember, as we have all been taught: Actions speak louder than words. Spouses, we invite you to practice loving by offering a prayer petition on behalf of your beloved and lighting a candle in honor of your commitment. Word of God Week: FRIDAY = FAMILY DAY! To close out our week focusing on the Word of God, here are some activities for families with children: 1. Look up works of art that depict passages of Scripture. Share them with your children and talk about them. For example, below is a picture of Rembrandt’s painting depicting the story of the Prodigal son. You can read the bible story, talk about how the picture makes them feel, share information about the artist, etc.... 2. Find board games related to the Bible and play them as a family. You can find many options on the internet, as well as directions on how to make your own. 3. Do you give family gifts for birthdays, weddings, Christmas, etc? Let your children help you decide who might like to receive a bible as a gift. 4. Share your favorite bible passage or story then have your child draw a picture that you can display on the refrigerator or wherever you keep your children’s art work. Most importantly, remember to keep the Word of God front and center in your family life. Good Morning FB Family time for our Thursday Word of God Activity! Our activity today is designed for you as an individual. Let today be the day you make a personal commitment to read one chapter of the New Testament each day. Just one. Then after you read it, write down what you are feeling in your heart. It is in that moment, as you absorb the Word of God and reflect upon it, that the Holy Spirit speaks to you. Whether you write these thoughts and feelings in a journal or... type them on your computer, they will become a spiritual diary and something for you to treasure now and in the years to come. If you’d like to make a public proclamation of your commitment, type I commit in the comment field. You can be sure that all who see that comment will be inspired and will pray for you as well. Today we celebrate the Feast of St. John Paul II! One of the beautiful elements of our Catholic faith is our belief that our relationship with others does not end with death. For us, prayer to our beloved saints is recognition of this continuing communion.
