Dear Friends , First, deepest gratitude to Gloria for devoting her life to carrying out Mom’s mission of feeding the hungry and needy! Thanks to each of you for... your open hearts and hard work. Might be useful to call on your representatives in congress and your senators to raise consciousness. It will give them a cause that would help their constituencies to support and vote for them. They could use that support in their next election. There is power in numbers. The more people you tell about the loss in light of The Pandemic - people losing jobs and not having enough to eat - the more blatant this action becomes. Instead of saying let’s work together to support this work and make needed changes, they close the Kitchen and deprive the needy and homeless from their only safe home. Now when people need you more than ever, local bureaucrats are using political expediency to keep people in your community hungry. Tell everyone. Raise consciousness of the great pain they are giving to the homeless who are losing the only home where they can safely return, and always feel welcome and loved. Mom is very proud of Gloria and each of you. Know she is in the background supporting you in your Mission to feed and support the homeless. Thank you for all you are doing to feed the hungry. Sincerely, Mary J. McAnena Giuffra

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation, known informally as the sanctuary op, could begin in California as soon as later this week. It would then expand to cities including Denver and Philadelphia, according to two of the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive government law enforcement plans.

"In New Orleans, members of the Renter’s Rights Assembly on Thursday surrounded a courthouse that handles evictions, chaining themselves together under a banner reading Evictions = Death and blocking several landlords from entering the building."

"We see three options that will protect renters and small landlords right now: The Judicial Council can keep the rule in place a little longer, instead of pulling the plug before the end of the legislative session. The Governor can issue an Executive Order to extend the Judicial Council rule until a legislative solution is enacted. The Legislature can pass an urgency bill to extend the rule until they have time to enact a permanent fix.... One of the above options MUST happen by August 14th."

"Upwards of 25 million Americans who've lost their jobs have been getting those extra unemployment benefits. That $600 per week has helped many to afford to pay their rent and other bills. But that federal money stops this weekend."
