It all started 13 years ago when I wanted to lose weight and feel healthy. I began changing my lifestyle with high intensity workouts and diet. I lost 85 lbs, started feeling great and knew I wanted to help others feel the same. Two years ago I started my Martial Arts journey, teaching fitness kickboxing. Meet Coach Ramon! We're excited to have him on the team! You'll quickly find that he brings a lot of experience, energy, and comedic relief to class! @muay_thai_drummer... Coach Ramon will be leading our Youth Muay Thai program, and partnering with Coach Pj to lead the adult Muay Thai Program in the evening. "Hey there, I’m Coach Ramon! It’s been a life-long dream to be a martial artist since watching martial arts movies at 4 yrs old. My mom wouldn’t let me train as a child, but, 18 years ago, overweight and unhealthy, I recognized that I could pay for it myself and make that dream come true. I haven’t stopped since that realization. I spent my formative years mastering multiple martial arts including the beloved Muay Thai boxing. I was deeply invested in the craft not only to be fit and scrappy but also, because I loved the philosophy and discipline that came along with the practice. I studied massage therapy as one of my teachers instilled that if you can hurt someone you serve to learn how to heal them as well. Later in 2015, my wife and I moved to Thailand for 4 years to deepen our practices. I began training and coaching Muay Thai in Chiang Mai. I love to teach because it is a deeper way to uncover my passion for the practice. My goal at OAC is to bring the philosophy of Muay Thai and concepts behind striking, clinching, trips, sweeps and tricks. Come train with me whether it is for fighting or to be fit! This year has been a game changer for him and he's realized that the only way forward is through a healthy lifestyle. - Rick says that boxing contributes to maintaining his physical health and level activity for himself as well as his kids. He's a family man who likes to spend a lot of time with his kids and life long partner (now officially his fiancè...congrats). - Rick is a pretty active guy! Meet Coach Sara! Sara is Chief Operating Officer, Co-Owner, and Nutrition Coach of Move the Needle. She just moved from New York to Oceanside, and will be our main point of contact from MTN at OAC. A little about Sarah...... She's is a certified health coach helping athletes of all levels enhance recovery and performance through clean, balanced eating. Sara’s passion for clean eating stemmed from her own personal nutritional exploration and transformation. Growing up, Sara was always seen as thin and therefore healthy, but struggled with autoimmune issues and incorrect diagnoses due to a poor response to outdated healthy nutritional standards. After reversing years of the healthy American diet and achieving health and wellness, Sara took her nutrition to new heights using it to transform her physical performance as a CrossFitter. Today, Sara coaches and competes in the world of CrossFit and counsels athletes of all walks of life through healthy eating in order to achieve optimal weight, reduce cravings, sleep better, and maximize strength, energy and recovery. Sara works with clients one-on-one to develop healthy sustainable habits.
