It's that time of year again... We're going door to door throughout OB to collect canned food for those in need. We need some help to hand out fliers, and then we'll need some helpful drivers. We'll do our part to social distance as we work to end hunger's existence. It's a great way to open your heart, and still stay six feet apart. If you can help, please let us know, and we'll get you set and ready to go.
We’re super sad we’re not able to do the Howl-o-Ween Carnival this year. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t instigate some canine capers. Show us your best candid of your canine in a costume. The picture with the most likes on Halloween will get a special trick, or treat!
Congratulations to new Lt. Gov. John Crawford! Special thanks to outgoing Lt. Gov. Craig Bratlien for such amazing leadership during such turbulent times.
We’re warming up our spatulas...Our friends at the @obtowncouncil are doing a virtual pancake breakfast this year. The pancake breakfast helps pay for stuff like the OB Food and Toy Drive for local families in need. You can buy a pancake kit here: https://obtowncouncil.org/pier-pancake-breakfast/
When does a joke become a dad joke? When it becomes apparent. Happy Father’s Day! In honor of Father’s Day, we want to hear your best Dad jokes.
The American Kitefliers Association has this awesome tutorial on how to fly a kite: http://kite.org/activities/kites-for-kids/
Happy Mother’s Day!
Hope everyone is happy and healthy. We're bummed we're not hosting the Kite Festival tomorrow. But, that doesn't mean you can't decorate, build, and fly a kite! Here's a really easy kite you can probably make out of stuff you have lying around the house: https://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Fast-Kite-with-One-Sheet-of-.
We wish we were out and about too. But, we know it's better for everybody if we stay in. Here's a list of 125 things to do with kids while we're quarantined. Some of them are pretty cool: https://parade.com//things-to-do-with-kids-during-coronav/
Happy Anniversary to us! We're 92 years old today and I must say we look good for our age.
We are postponing this year's Kite Festival, originally scheduled for May 9, 2020 to a later date, at the urging of the CDC. We're a community service organization and we want to help keep all of our community safe. We will let you know as soon as we reschedule. Stay healthy, and take care of yourself and your neighbors!
We’re sad to announce the passing of Mike Servais. He was one of a kind. He was a beloved father and grandfather, an avid ukulele player, bicyclist, water aerobics enthusiast, boogey boarder, photographer, bowler, line dancer, salsa dancer, traveler, pickler of things, connoisseur of hot sauces, maker of fried rice, wearer of silly ties, and valued member of the community. He served our club as an officer and as the Key Club Advisor at Point Loma High. He served our Kiwanis Division 21 as a Lieutenant Governor. He was a member of the Ocean Beach Town Council. He was a member of Saint Mark’s in City Heights where he worked extensively with the homeless. Saying all that still doesn’t fully capture his spirit. To know Mike was to love him. Services will be held February 8, at 2:00 PM at Saint Mark’s in City Heights.
Thanks to our friends in and around OB for all your help and generosity. Every year we go door to door to collect food and toys for local families to support the OBTC. https://obtowncouncil.org/food-and-toy-drive/
Our friends in Point Loma are doing an awesome service project, and you can help.
Each year we go door-to-door, dropping off bags supplied by @oceanbeachpeoples and Stump's Family Marketplace, for people to fill with nonperishable food, and gently used toys. We're able to help @obtowncouncil make the holidays brighter for 80-100 local families. But, we're looking to help more. We need help passing out the bags the week of December 1-7. If you're interested in helping out, please text John at 619-796-5529.
Happy Halloween
14th Annual Canine Carnival
The 2019 Howloween Canine Carnival is in the books. Thanks to everybody for coming out.
Doxy Derby at 11:30. Parade at 1:00!
Official Canine Carnival Program!
It's the Canine Carnival in San Diego...of course we have hot dogs. Doggos Gus will be there tomorrow!
We're #2! We're #2! We're #2! We've been busy doing a lot of our own Club stuff. But, we still made time to visit our friends in other clubs to see how they're making San Diego better.
Often imitated, but never duplicated...
Thank you to everyone who came out to today’s fishing derby! Can you believe somebody caught a lobster? Our next event is the Canine Carnival on October 19. Hope to see you there!
The fish didn’t care that it rained, and neither do we. The Fishing Derby starts in a little over an hour! Will you catch the silliest fish? Will you catch the most fish-like seaweed? See you there!
It's our annual Fishing Derby! The pier has taken a licking, but it keeps on ticking. Come on out and enjoy a morning of free, family fun!
One of the 2 movies on Friday! Come on out...don't be an L-7 Weeny!
One of the 2 movies this week!
Sun is setting. Almost movie time.
Hey Grantville-Allied Gardens Kiwanis Club, we were cleaning out our storage garage and we found a 30 year-old SDSU Circle K yearbook we thought you might like. When can we do an interclub and bring it over?
We awarded 4 seniors $1,000 each. This was an awesome group of Key-Clubbers, and we're excited to see what great things they do in their next chapters.
You might not know this, but we're a very small club. There are about a dozen active members who regularly attend meetings, and put on our events. We get by with a little help from our friends in Kiwanis Club of Point Loma, San Diego Peninsula Lions Club, Ocean Beach Woman's Club, and Ocean Beach Town Council. But, we need more help. If you're interested in helping out at this year's Free Summer Movies in the Park, or Fishing Derby, or Canine Carnival, or the Door to Door Canned Food Drive, or the Kite Festival, or the Point Loma High School Key Club, or supporting the YWCA, or supporting the Rec Center, or introducing us to other projects, send us a message. We'd love to hear from you.
Thank you all for an awesome time at our 71st Annual Kite Festival!
Tomorrow it'll be 68 and mostly sunny, with an awesome amount of wind...for a kite festival!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Mother's Day Drive for our local domestic violence victim shelter!
Plenty of deals to be had at our yard sale. 3276 Talbot
We're having a yard sale!

Happy New Year!
Happy Holidays from all of us!
We’ve been busy... (Supporting Ocean Beach Town Council; and Ronald McDonald House and Rady’s Children’s Hospital)
You might have gotten a bag, like this, courtesy of us, and Ocean Beach People's Organic Food Market. Tomorrow we're going door-to-door to pick up food and gifts for the Ocean Beach Town Council Holiday Food and Toy Drive.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. We’re so grateful to serve such an amazing community.
Happy Howl-o-ween!
Looking for a little spooky*, free, family fun? Come on down to Ocean Beach Recreation Center for their annual Halloween Carnival, today, from 2-5! There will be costume contests, jumpies, games, cupcakes, candy, and we'll be serving hot dogs, nachos, chili, and any combo of hot dogs, cheese, chili, and chips you can think of. *editor's note- it is totally not spooky.
Perfect form here. Notice the fish is close to the camera, and far from the child's smiling face. That way the fish looks bigger. The Fishing Derby is less than 24 hours away, so there is not much time to practice the pose. See you tomorrow!
We have some exciting stuff coming up in Ocean Beach, San Diego. On Saturday, September 22 is the Ocean Beach Town Council pancake breakfast at the Ocean Beach Pier Cafe. On Saturday, October 6, is our 52nd Annual Fishing Derby off the Ocean Beach Municipal Pier. On Saturday, October 20, is our 13th Annual Howl-o-Ween Canine Carnival at Dusty Rhodes Park. On Saturday, October 27, is the Ocean Beach Recreation Center Halloween Carnival. Hope to see you there!
We'll be there!
