On this #WorldDayoftheSick, we share a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Lourdes in pictures: https://tinyurl.com/5ert4933. Bishop Barber attended this pilgrimage with the Western Association of the Order of Malta back in the fall. Here Bishop is pictured during the Anointing of the Sick at the St. Bernadette Chapel. Today we pray: Ever Immaculate Virgin Mother of Mercy, Health of the sick, refuge of sinners, Comforter of the afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings; look with mercy on me.

We are so happy to see our Lumen Christi Academies students back in the classroom! Students from Queen Of All Saints School returned to campus for in-person learning last week - and are following rigorous safety protocols (including mandatory masks, social distancing, sanitation, and rotating cohort on-campus days). Our Lumen Christi Community is relieved to be back learning in-person, seeing each other on the playground (distanced), and raising real hands at real desks, in our newly renovated classrooms.

Parishes in Contra Costa County to return to lower occupancy as of Nov. 6 Due to a marked increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, Contra Costa County has modified the occupancy level for indoor gathers. Effective Friday, Nov. 6, parishes may only allow indoor attendance at Masses to be at 25% occupancy or 100 people, whichever is fewerthe same as Alameda County. We must all continue to be attentive to published precautions and protocols, Bishop Michael C. Barber,... SJ, said. Health officials caution that it is now more important than ever to follow the state health guidance for physical distancing and use of face coverings, to keep everyone safe and healthy during the upcoming holiday season." 2020 problems require 2020 solutions! Our parishes are using ingenuity and adaptation - alongside a strong foundation of faith - to make visiting and attending Mass as safe as possible for parishioners. At St Catherine of Siena in Martinez, a hand sanitizer dispenser has been deputized to safely dispense Holy Water directly inside the church for blessing, while a dispenser outside provides regular hand sanitizer for visitors.

Diocese of Oakland 02.07.2020

Alameda County, alongside Contra Costa County, has approved limited indoor worship (with restrictions). Following our Diocesan Safety Protocols (masks required, social distancing, sanitization, limited capacity), parishes across our entire Diocese will now be opening for indoor Mass, with limited attendance - just as chilly weather starts arriving. Parishes that are able to do so are encouraged to continue outdoor Masses as long as possible, even if indoor services are permit...ted. Please keep in mind that the obligation to attend Mass remains suspended until further notice. Livestreamed Masses should still be provided when possible for those unable to attend in person. Pre-registration may be required to attend Mass in some places. Please check our Prayers and Masses page to find an open parish near you: https://oakdiocese.org/prayer-and-masses
