Napa Valley College's Performing Arts Center on our main campus and our Upper Valley Campus in St. Helena are both serving as Napa County Vote Centers. In addition to the vote box on the main campus near the library, the Vote Centers are open today from 8 am-5 pm and tomorrow (Election Day) from 7 am to 8 pm. All week we've been celebrating #transferstudentweek by checking in with our recent transfer students. We wrap up sharing their stories with our recent Stanford transfer. Meet Josh D. He transferred this Fall to Stanford University and shares that while challenges come with being a Stanford transfer, he is finding all the support needed to succeed. Josh is not only a hard working student, but also a USA Veteran, and we are so proud to share his update. "Hello NVC! I’ve ...been attending my first quarter at Stanford remotely this Fall. The transition has been challenging to be honest. I’ve definitely struggled in certain areas, particularly keeping up with the pace. But once I identified my challenges in adapting to the pace of Stanford learning, the resources available have been spectacular. Stanford is challenging, supportive, and really everything I hoped it would be. I highly encourage every interested student at NVC to apply to Stanford. You certainly have what it takes!" It’s #nationaltransferstudentweek and we are celebrating by checking in with our recent transfer students! Meet Chelsea C. She transferred to UC Davis and successfully made the transition from NVC to a UC this fall. She gives us an update on how her life as a newly admitted Aggie is going. Transferring to UC Davis has been exciting! Although orientation and classes have been done remotely, the advisors and professors have done a really good job with connecting to students an...d making us feel a part of the Aggie community. All of my professors have been wonderful so far. They are understanding due to the current circumstances and have been very helpful with any questions or concerns we may have for our classes or career paths. Chelsea reflected on how NVC prepared her for life at a 4 year University. I feel like NVC has prepared me for this wonderful transition with the tools I need to succeed. Shout out to SSS Trio and my counselor Tracy for being the backbone of my success and motivation to keep doing my best!"
