And more exciting news... Last night I nailed down an interview with Charlie Fields of the YouTube channel SFVEEGS. We'll be filing next Sat, Feb 6. Interview will be available as the editing process is done! It's been a hot pressing matter for me to talk about what I recently heard referred to as "vegan #1 vs. vegan #2", aka the chemical loving vs. healthy vegans. As someone who tries to promote healthy AND plant based living, I find it sad that people are proud to announc...e that they can eat a whole pack of girl scout cookies or a bag of maple-bacon chips, if those don't have animal products. Whats even sadder is that I often feel reprimanded by those who "love their chemicals, as long as they're vegan." This is going to be one exciting interview you don't wanna miss! Thanks to my lovely friend and supporter Kimberli Haris for linking us up! #healthyliving #plantbasednutrition #nourishbyinsight #healthcoach #cleanyourfridge #IIN #healthcoach #organic #naturalfoodchef

Hey everyone, January is almost over. It's the first month of the year, one where we all tend to set ourselves with new goals. Relationships, career, health... those are the common ones. Research shows that gym memberships EXPLODE in the beginning of the year, and then dwindle down as the months progress. So obviously lots of people HAVE new year resolutions around health and wellness, but somehow they aren't able to hold on to them.... There's actually a biology for change. Bellow is a great interview with Todd Herman b Marie Forleo, explaining a little about whats going on in our body when we try to change. 2 things that work for me when I try to implement change into m life, are strategies and community support. And that's EXACTLY what you'll be getting when you come to my cooking class this Saturday. Strategies on HOW to implement new habits around healthy cooking into our life, and COMMUNITY SUPPORT from great like-minded individuals who, just like you, are interested in creating the healthy and vibrant life you want and DESERVE to have! We have a couple more spots left, so would love to have a few more people come join us. Get ready... This class could be the catalyst for the change you've looking for! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKLK04IU4Do https://www.facebook.com/events/506425429559216/ #cookingclass #PLACE #healthcoach #plantbasedfood #bayareaveganlove

So I'm getting some feedback from folks that $60 is too high of a price for my upcoming cooking class. I wanted to address this question and offer you 5 great reason to come join this HIGH VALUE class... 1. The class is taking place at Place For Sustainable Living, which is a wonderful establishment, supporting education and action around sustainbility and ecology in The Bay. We are splitting all profits 50-50, so when you register for class, some of our money would go to a... worthy cause. 2. The average American spends $232 a month on eating out... Think about how much money you can save by learning some easy tips, strategies and recipes to help support you on your journey to the prosperous life you want! 3. Cooking at home has been linked to better health. From Michael Pollan to Mark Hayman, doctors, chefs and prolific writers all support this claim. Think about all those sick days, co-pay and time spent dealing with health issue, which you can save by preparing some of your own meals. 4. Cooking creates connection. Research shows that families that eat together, stay together. 3 out of 4 meals in the US are eaten either in the car, alone in-front of a device or at a restaurant. Let's connect with loved one over a home cooked meal! 5. Increasing our consumption of fruits and vegetables can help reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of chronic disease. Well, at the risk of repeating myself, I love to stress that good health is priceless. It pains me that many people these days live with conditions that cause so much un-necessary suffering. But change is possible! It starts with one small step. Learning how to care for ourself through home-made food is an amazing skill that can have an un-ending ripple effect on family, friends and strangers alike! Come join me next Sat Jan 30, at PLACE, 12-4pm, to learn new skills, connect with great people, support an amazing Bay Area gem and indulge in a super healthy, delicious meal prepared by... YOU! Don't miss out on this memorable experience that can change your life and improve your overall health, happiness and wellbeing. Sign up today! see event page bellow... #cookingclass #plantbaseddiet #loveyourvegetables #IIN #healthcoach #placeforsustainableliving https://www.facebook.com/events/506425429559216/
It seems like everyone around me is getting sick these days. There's this throat thing going around, and though I've been feeling it "tickle" (pun intended) I've so far been spared from the worse of it... So what's a few simple steps we can take to protect our health during the cold season? 1. Kick start our day with some natural vitamin C. And when I say natural, I mean actually get a squeeze of fresh lemon, mixed with some warm water, and if you're feeling brave (or congest...ed... or both...) sprinkle some cayenne pepper in the mix and down it like a champ! 2. Make "warming" roots, such as ginger, cinnamon, licorice (NOT the candy), garlic and turmeric, a regular part of your diet. You can make fresh tea, grate/ chop some into your soup, stew or stir-fry, or add them to our juice. Whatever floats your boat, these potent roots would help you float through the storm healthy and warm. 3. Cut down on your sugar intake, particularly in the later part of the day. Sugar is an inflammatory, and inflammation puts our immune system at risk. It's a pretty simple formula... But I know, its easier said than done. So if you're craving something sweet, try an orange, red grapefruit or kiwi, which are loaded with vitamin C... This is what I call.. enjoy while staying protected... lol Stay warm, be healthy, enjoy... and... BE NOURISHED #naturalimmunity #healthythiswinter #healthcoach #IIN
Hello plant and animal loving friends, How many of you look at your life and sigh... "I'm sooooo busy!" There's so much going on for everyone these days, and trying to fit cooking into our already super-packed life is always challenging! And then there's the part of figuring out what to do with all those winter veggies. But cooking seasonal has lots of health benefits, and promotes better environmental standards, which are better for us and the animals and natural habitats, t...oo :) If you're curious about learning some easy tips and strategies on how to cook seasonal winter veggies, with other vegan protein sources, such as tofu, tempeh and legumes, and get maximum health for minimum money, I encourage you to come check out my upcoming class next Sat at PLACE. This would also be a great class for your non-vegan friends who are alwas asking "what DO you eat?" and "where... from" ;) Check out the event page... Hope to see you there! A few weeks ago I posted a picture of my breakfast smoothie. I've been feeling motivated today to finally post the recipe. I have to admit this is NOT one of those 5 ingredient recipes. But it's ridiculously nourishing and very high in everything the doctors have been telling me to crank. So... here goes. ... The-mean-green-hi-protein-phaty-fat-shake! enjoy and...
