Hip hip hooray! It’s the 100th Day! Today the TK class celebrated the 100th day of school with special treats from Zero the Hero! They practiced counting to 100, doing 100 dance moves, and making crowns with 100 dots! We also looked back at everything we have learned so far in our TK year. In TK, we know that we can do amazing things with God on our side! In this week's Bible story, the TK students learned about the story of Daniel. He stayed faithful to God even when he was threatened with the lions' den! Daniel knew that God would keep him safe. TK created "friendly" lion masks today to help them remember that God is always with us too- just like Daniel! We made it to the Finals Round of our very first Battle of the Schools Restaurant Fundraiser and it begins TODAY! All we need to do is Out Eat the competition this week until Sunday, Nov 8. Happy Halloween! Our TK students were surely feeling that spooky spirit as they constructed haunted houses for their shy little ghosts! Inspired by the story, "Ten Timid Ghosts," TK students used Habits of Mind like persisting and thinking flexibly as they used candy and toothpicks to build haunted houses that would stand up and fit their ghosts inside. Kindergarten has been researching the creepy crawly creatures known as spiders! This week, Ms. Durso’s students completed their Spider Research Journal, where they were able to organize all of the things they learned. They began by examining their schema, learning new information, and figuring out a few misconceptions along the way. In addition to a written book report, Ms. Koch's 3rd Grade class is using their creative genius HALLOWEEN style. Students were able to choose a book at their lexile level and create a pumpkin representative of the book, a character, or scene from the story. #FOSS in Action: 5th Grade students participated in hands-on, science exploration while investigating detritivores and decomposition. After 5 weeks of maintaining the soil of their compost kits and conducting observations, our students had the option to release their kits (inclusive of living worms!) into their own gardens or return them to school. #ndaknights #science #5thgrade #goknights #distancelearning
