At the age of 15, Ngan and Tuyen have experienced more horror than anyone should ever endure. Both teen girls have been rescued from trafficking this week, and are now receiving support from Blue Dragon. Ngan was deceived by a trafficker who promised her a good job in a province near Hanoi. Instead, she fell prey to sexual exploitation when the trafficker sold her to a brothel disguised as a karaoke bar.... Our #NotForSaleVietnam partners Blue Dragon worked with the police to free Ngan from her captors, and is now working to ensure everyone involved in her trafficking is prosecuted. Tuyen was also lured with promises of a better life, in her case to China. There, the traffickers were first planning to remove and sell one of her kidneys, but instead tried to force the 15-year-old to be a surrogate mother. Now Tuyen’s nightmare is over. She was rescued by the Chinese authorities and we assisted in her repatriation to Vietnam. Social workers and psychologists will make sure she doesn't feel alone while she completes her mandatory quarantine, and provide her with all she needs to recover afterwards. 23 survivors of trafficking are now home safe and sound. Aged from 13 to 58, all are from an ethnic community in northern Ha Giang province and were lured to China with offers of good-paying jobs. Struggling because of the coronavirus pandemic back in March, five of them accepted a job in China, hoping they could earn money to survive.... In June, another 18 people were convinced to take the short journey across the border to find work. But what these men, women and children found there wasn't a fair wage. In fact, they weren't paid at all. The group fell prey to labour exploitation. Our #NotForSaleVietnam partners @bluedragonchildren assisted in their repatriation, accompanied the group home to Ha Giang, and are now providing support in the investigation to ensure the people responsible for their trafficking are found and prosecuted. #WeAreNotForSale
