Here is a sweet update on former patients, Ravioli and Tomato! These two were local favorites and held a special spot in the hearts of many! They were rescued in 2017 as very young pups. Tomato was blind in one eye due to a dog attack and Ravioli had neurological problems and they were both deemed unreleasable. They spent their time here as pen mates and lucked out when Moody Gardens adopted them together!! Thank you Moody Gardens, Maggie and staff! We are forever grateful for all of you!

Between rescues, around the clock tube feedings, meds and wound care, our volunteers have been extremely busy these last few days! We have admitted three Pacific harbor seal pups due to injury and/or maternal separation. Flint, Nikita and Thomas are all resting comfortably but have a long road to recovery. Just $10 will feed and care for a PHS pup for one day! Will you help us help them?!

This is Ozzie, a 2 week old harbor seal pup we rescued last May. He was abandoned and emaciated. Our wonderful volunteer staff fed him formula every few hours, around the clock, for a few weeks. After10 weeks of care, Ozzie was successfully released back into the ocean. Please help us care for animals like Ozzie by supporting #GivingTuesday and NMMC. Please Donate!

Help us give a big THANK YOU to Cindy Lee and the Wags and Menace Make a Difference Founcation for the generous donation we just received. The funds will help pay for emergency medical care for several seals and sea lions. Thanks to them, other elephant seals like Sharka khan, will get the life saving care they need to be released back into the ocean.

It was a great day for a harbor seal release! Ozzy, Blub and Shark Wahlberg were all released back into the big blue today. Ozzy and Blub raced into the water (Blub even caught some air) while poor Shark was backwards in his crate The others were waiting nearby and once Shark got out, it only took him a minute to catch up to them before they made their way out. Good luck little ones!!

Keep your eyes peeled for the latest addition to our gift shop: Pieces Of The Pacific. These beautiful, framed pictures are all hand made by one of our former volunteers. Each piece is one of a kind, using sea glass, agates etc. that her family found on our local beaches while they were stationed here in Crescent City, California. Although they may be far away (they are now stationed in Georgia ) we are thrilled to have her helping from afar!

Happy Monday! Ozzy came in as one of the skinniest Pacific harbor seal pups we’ve ever seen! Between around the clock tube feedings, meds, supplements, wound care, fluids, fish and lots of TLC, he has made an amazing comeback and is now eating fish and competitively feeding with our other pups. He has a bit more weight to gain but he’ll be released back into the big blue before we know it! These are your donations, hard at work. We thank you all for your continued support. We couldn’t do what we do without you!!!

Did you know that every year, hundreds of thousands of marine mammals die from being entangled in fishing gear and/or ocean debris? Once they become entangled, they can die of starvation, strangulation or infection as the entanglement starts embedding into their flesh. Yesterday we rescued a threatened Guadalupe fur seal pup. He was rescued with fishing gear wrapped tightly around his neck. This little guy was extremely lucky that he stranded before the net started cutting into his neck. We were able to cut him loose and he will now be rehabilitated and released back into the big blue. (Net pic in comments) We couldn’t do what we do without the love and continued support from all of our followers. The NMMC and our flippered friends thank you!

Sammy Dolphin Jr would like to say to everyone that made a donation to help us repair our animal pen drain problems. We raised more than the $3,700 we need. We are very happy because we all know how often these things end up costing more than the quote! At a time when things in the news are very disheartening, this is a reminder for us all here at the Northcoast Marine Mammal Center, that there are a lot of really great people in the world. THANK YOU!!!.

! We need to raise $3,257 to repair very slow drains. We drain animal pools to clean them and refill with fresh water every day. Over time, inferior drainpipes have become compressed into a narrow oval shape as well as being warped so badly they look like a roller coaster. The drains have now slowed to the point that they could cause bacterial problems for our patients. , ’ !
