As we spread awareness during mental health month, NBC reports that 75% of our homeless clients suffer from a serious mental illness. Our goal is to assist individuals into supportive housing and treatment. This decreases the cost to taxpayers an average of $60,000 a year for each person we help. #mentalhealthawareness #homeless
Thank you to the @harvardhbs volunteers for offering up your talent to help us with implementing some of this years Strategic Initiatives!
Thank you to everyone who helped make our 20th Anniversary Virtual Spring Event last week a success. A huge thank you to our host, Ruth Yankoupe, our production manager, Marybeth Hall, and the team at The Lux Productions. We couldn’t have done it without you! #northbeachcitizens20years #northbeachsanfrancisco #endhomelessnesssf
Loving Spring in North Beach!
We are so grateful and filled with joy after our very first Virtual Spring Event last Wednesday night! In case you missed it, here's the intro video that we played at the event. It captures the spirit of our last 20 years coming together as a community -- Italian Style -- to share a meal in the basement of Saints Peter and Paul Church. If you haven't already done so, please consider making a donation at www.northbeachcitizens.org or here via Facebook to support the the work we do to help those in need in our community. Thank you!
It's not too late to join us this evening. The pre-show begins at 5:30 PM with the event starting promptly at 6:00 PM. Go to: https://www.northbeachcitizens.org/spring-virtual-event We have an exciting program with a guest appearance by our founder and famed filmmaker, Francis Ford Coppola, jazz by The Paula West Quartet, as well as an exciting Fund-A-Need and Auction for a beautiful Mexican Villa vacation.

Our beloved founder, Francis Ford Coppola, talks about homelessness, life, friendship, neighborhood history, and his ideas about the future as he tells the remarkable story of North Beach Citizens in a new interview with The Kitchen Sisters. Dillard was homeless for 16 years, sleeping and playing accordion on the street. That is until we helped him get into permanent, supportive housing. It's our 20th Year Anniversary and we depend on the community's financial support to do the good work we do. Please consider making a donation so that we can help more chronically homeless people like Dillard get into housing and improve their lives. In case you missed it -- a wonderful article by Catherine Bigelow in the Nob Hill Gazette about the late poet and artist Lawrence Ferlinghetti who was a a longtime supporter of North Beach Citizens. He was there in the beginning when Francis Ford Coppola founded our organization 20 years ago and served for many years as a neighborhood co-host for our annual Spring Event fundraiser, which we hold next Wednesday in his honor. As a Vietnam veteran, he showed great compassion for the many people he saw suffering on the streets, many of whom were also veterans. We will miss him! https://nobhillgazette.com/a-farewell-to-our-pope-of-poetry/
Our founder and famed filmmaker, Francis Ford Coppola, will be talking with The Kitchen Sisters today On Air Fest at 11:15 a.m. today. Be sure to register below to listen.
If we're going to solve homelessness in the Bay Area, we need regional collaboration, local action, and racial equity. #BetterTogether #NorthBeachCitizens20Years http://allhomeca.org/regionalactionplan

It’s looking a lot like the holidays. Our street cleaners had a lovely social distance holiday party where some local restaurants donated some amazing food! Thank you @northbeachpizzagrant @betty_lous_seafood_sf @filbertstreetgal
