Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center 07.07.2021

The City of Mission Viejo is hosting a special Drive-Through Food AND Toy Drive from 9-11 am on Saturday, December 12 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Seni...or Center. The food drive will benefit South County Outreach, which works to prevent homelessness and hunger in the region. Because of COVID-19, the need for food pantry services has increased by 90%, and food inventory has decreased by 30%. Most-needed items include oatmeal, pasta, hearty soups, cereal, dried beans, canned chicken, macaroni & cheese, canned beef stew, cereal, protein bars and dinner helpers. New, unwrapped toys for all ages are also sought to make the holidays brighter for the City’s adopted Marines and their families. With COVID-19 protocols in place, the Drive-Through event will allow you to drive up, pop your trunk and #MissionViejoLife staff members will collect the items. https://bit.ly/3obHnIY

While 554 homes in Mission Viejo’s Zone 1 are under an evacuation warning, the City’s Temporary Evacuation Point (TEP) the Norman P. Murray Community and Se...nior Center is open from 8 am until 9 pm to assist residents in finding alternate lodging needs. If you need to find shelter after hours, please contact 949-470-3062 for assistance or go to the 24-hour TEP at El Toro High School. Keeping COVID-19 precautions in mind and the need for social distancing, residents who have evacuated are encouraged to look for alternative accommodations; however, the Murray Center can be used as a meeting place while making those arrangements. Masks must be worn and social distancing is required. The Temporary Evacuation Point at 24932 Veterans Way is a place where residents can get information and resources to assist in any relocation needs. In the event of a mandatory evacuation during this fire or any emergency, residents should check their insurance policies, since many policies will cover costs associated with mandatory evacuations. Mission Viejo Animal Services Center staff is also on hand for assistance and information about pet-sheltering needs. Call the Community Center at 949-470-3062 or the Animal Services Center at 949-470-3045 for more information. Orange County Fire Authority OCSD - Mission Viejo Police Services
