Good grief. "As the National Rifle Association sees it, the March For Our Lives taking place in Washington and in cities and communities nationwide, is a ploy t...o destroy the Second Amendment. On NRATV, host Grant Stinchfield said he is "committed to exposing the violent, even deadly history of these people behind this weekend’s March For Our Lives, anti-gun fraud of a protest." "March For Our Lives is backed by radicals with a history of violent threats, language and actions," Stinchfield said March 21. The key evidence behind that claim? Stinchfield argued that the Women’s March, the massive protest the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January 2017, is "a major force behind" the March For Our Lives."

In case you don't already know, the Nor-Cal Galaxie club executive board voted in the beginning of this year to temporarily suspend club membership and activity, due to lack of interest in anyone willing to step forward to take over the presidency. Suspended status, as opposed to dissolved club status, allows us to maintain our non-profit charter with the state of California, should we decide to reinstate it within a specified allotted amount of time (I believe it's 2 years, ...but I don't know for sure); without having to begin a new charter from scratch. As newsletter editor, I decided to also suspend regular publishing of the newsletter, though I did add that should I feel like publishing a one-off email version once in awhile, that I would do that. Unfortunately, so far the hankering to do so, hasn't really hit me. I'm still working on possible material I may wish to present, in the absence of formal club business. As for the Facebook Page, there's little to add to it as well, unless of course you'd like me to, in which case let myself or Barbara know. I believe we may be the only two people with administrator access to this page... I'm not sure. Facebook brought to my attention that there has been little activity on this page for some time, and that people may be wondering what's going on, so I thought I ought to respond. Sleep comes to a dear friend, RIP Steve Charland.

Greetings to fellow members of the Nor-Cal Galaxies/Mercurys: Unfortunately, Nor-Cal Galaxies has suspended all official communication of the club until further notice. This is a short note to explain the current and future plans of the club, so that everyone understands the decisions that were made. First, for the historical perspective, I hope everyone knows that for the past two years, this club has been trying to make members aware that a new president and board was need...ed to take over the running of the club, via election or volunteer. This first was stated in many ways, almost monthly for the past two years. Regretfully, no members have stepped forward to fill the positions. Therefore, during the January 21st 2017 club meeting, all those attending unanimously voted to suspend all operations of the club indefinitely, including but not limited to collections, newsletter, website, and finance. The current board and President have all agreed to stay on in an advisory and voting capacity until March or April of next year (2018), with the hope that someone will volunteer to step up and take over the club officially. Additionally, for your information, one thing remains for members to stay semi-connected. That is our Facebook site, it will remain active for anyone to enjoy. I am so sad that we have come to these decisions after over 30 years as a wonderful and exciting club that did so many things together. Here’s hoping that someone else can see the opportunities the club can provide, and take up the baton to make this club rise again. If anyone wants to discuss this further or volunteer to take over the club, please feel free to private message me and I will do my best to fill you in on any information you may need.
