In my therapy practice and in schools I often talk to parents and staff about how to talk to children and young people in ways that help make behavior problems ...smaller rather than bigger and in response I often hear exasperated and exhausted parents and staff saying to me "What's the point?! They're not even listening to me!!" And without any respite in our current lock-down land I know that the exasperation and exhaustion has reached fever pitch for many families. It's hard. And it takes practice. But sometimes they're not listening because they're so used to what is being said adding to the problem rather than reducing it.
