Training for the Pacific Airshow begins today, Thursday, October 18 at 1 p.m. until about 2 p.m. You're going to see and hear military planes flying overhead as the pilots prepare for this weekend's show.
The Pacific Airshow returns to Huntington Beach this weekend and there will be practice flights on Thursday and Friday by the Air Force Thunderbirds, which can be loud. If you furry friends are not fans of loud noises, please ensure they are secure and are wearing current ID.
The Police Department has issued a coyote advisory due to a recent increase in coyote sightings. Coyotes are predators and frequent visitors in urban areas. For everyone's safety, it is important that coyotes remain wary of humans. The PD offers the following tips to deter them and to protect your pets: -Enclose outdoor animal areas -Keep your pets indoors -Feed your pets indoors... -Reduce areas of potential shelter, such as thick brush and weeds -Eliminate potential food and water sources, such as fallen fruit -Never feed coyotes -Use negative reinforcement To learn more or to report a sighting, visit newportbeachca.gov/coyote

Keep your pups safe and secure! Here are some tips to minimize the impact of the loud noises associated with fireworks: Make sure they have on their collar with current ID. Bring them indoors during fireworks displays and, if possible, secure them in an inner room which is least impacted by exterior noise.... Close all doors and windows. Close window coverings to further dampen the noise. Use television and/or radio to offset the noise.
The Christmas Boat Parade will open and close with fireworks shows again this year. Area residents are encouraged to keep pets indoors and to make sure pets have current i.d. tags.
Dress up your four-legged friend and come to the Howl-O-Ween costume party on Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Marina Park!
