In Memory of Chinatsu Komori O’Dell Chinatsu Komori O’Dell, our beloved family member of NEW PEOPLE and the General Manager of SOUSOU San Francisco (Sou Sou Sf) passed away peacefully on April 19, 2020, at the age of 47 after a courageous battle with cancer over 5 years. Her husband, Chris O'Dell was at her side. She will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, daughter, and a deeply kind friend with a pure heart and soul. Above all else, Chinatsu was a woman of warmth an...d strength with many outstanding qualities compassion, appreciation of creativity, beauty, curiosity and sense of humor. She had the extraordinary gift to be loved by everyone she met and grow long-lasting friendship naturally. Chinatsu was born and raised in Kobe in Japan, and moved to San Francisco in 1999. After working at San Francisco Modern Art Museum for 7 years, she joined NEW PEOPLE in 2009 and dedicated herself as the General Manager for SOUSOU, the Japanese design brand from Kyoto, and grew its U.S. Market for the last 10 years. She met the love of her life Chris in 2016 and married in 2018 on the San Francisco Bay. Passionate about art, culture and music, she devoted her love to Japanese Urasenke tea ceremony while she inspired people as an advocate of Japanese arts and culture. She also loved traveling and hiking; Yosemite was one of her favorite places to visit every year. Donations in her memory may be made in her name to a breast-cancer charity, or help support the community she loved so much by supporting San Francisco Japantown organizations and businesses. A memorial to celebrate Chinatsu's beautiful life is being planned at a later date. May her memory endure for us all as a blessing.
