Huge congrats to all the families & teachers of OB Elementary (and other San Diego schools) who finish their school year today! We know it was a challenging one, but you did an amazing job pushing through (parents, kids, and teachers) so we hope you feel super proud of all you accomplished. And we hope you get to have a fun and restful summer!

Here’s a powerful promise & reminder from Nehemiah (from Sunday’s message) to encourage you this week in whatever you’re facing. Let’s meditate & pray on it all week together! Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes. (Nehemiah 4:14)

We kicked off our new series Sunday on how to become "uncommon leaders"--the kind that Jesus was! "Not so with you...Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant." (Matthew 20:26) When it comes to serving with humility, here are a few ideas from "Mother Theresa’s Humility List":... o Speak as little as possible about yourself. o Accept small irritations with good humor. o Do not dwell on the faults of others. o Accept being forgotten and disregarded. o Be courteous and delicate even when being provoked by someone. o Let certain arguments go, even when you are right. The Lord has told you what is good. And this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Happy Friday fam! Along with all the fun stuff we’re doing this month, we are planning to do a Halloween walk by, with the whole OB team, we will be set up on our grass area where our wonderful mural is on Ebers St. We’ll have fun music playing decorations and we will be handing out pre packaged goodie bags, candy, and glow sticks. We do these fun little outreaches to connect with everyone in our community and meet our neighbors and just to be the church in OB! So please i...f you plan on coming out come by and say hi to all of us and if you want to join in on the fun and help hand out candy safely of course, we would love that! We love to live our lives in control and in the know. And when we can’t anticipate the future, this oftentimes makes it challenging to fully surrender to God. In this episode, Pastor Markus and Pastor Isaac confront their fear of the unknown, and in a fun way talk about praying prayers of surrender.
