Over 800 superheroes, goblins, fairies and ghouls descended on downtown Chico Friday afternoon for the DCBA’s annual Treat Street - drive-thru edition. Rotarians showed up eager and ready to help stage hundreds of vehicles, direct traffic and hand out candy to excited little ones. Thank you to the many Rotarians who participated, Dane Bracewell and Bob Bracewell who organized the Rotarian efforts, and the Downtown Chico Business Association Dcba for pivoting in the year of COVID to keep this tradition alive.

Thank you to team Centurions for setting up this easy to accomplish R1 project! Team Five Scores hopped on to join this great project, writing letters to those who need some love at retirement communities! We love the innovation and commitment to our service above self, even during a year like 2020. Happy Friday everyone!

Rotary history: Isaac B Adams was 42 and manager of the DeSabla district of Pacific Gas and Electric when he became a founding member of Chico Rotary. A native of Wales in Great Britain, he first farmed near Marysville, where he developed blacksmithing and machinist skills. However, when PG&E was first extending electrical and gas services to rural California, he opted for a job with the company. In 1910, after success in several locations, PG&E promoted him to oversee its d...evelopment in Butte, Plumas and Tehama Counties. Here, among other things, he focused on expanding services to water projects, such as irrigation systems and dams. Always honing his skills, he completed an electrical engineering degree by correspondence. Adams and his wife Florence could have lived in any town in his vast district, but they chose Chico where their home was at 120 Normal. He was an active Republican when he joined the new Rotary chapter. Isaac Adams served two terms as our president before being transferred to San Jose in about 1930. #chicorotary #rotary #rotarylife #rotarian #peopleofaction #chico #thisischico #chicoca #chicocalifornia

One of our own, Rotarian Shelby Chase, was featured in Upgraded Living Magazine (pg 34-35). Shelby's commitment to helping benson, benson, benson out of homelessness is an awe-inspiring story! A great reminder that Rotarians are people of action. Be the change you want to see in the world! Great job Shelby!

One of the projects that Team Five Scores has committed to this year is Chico Food Project, and they invited the rest of the club to join them! The Chico Food Project is a fun and simple way to share food with the hungry in our community. They come to your doorstep 6 times per year to pick up your blue bag filled with non-perishables and leave you an empty bag for the next pickup. It's as easy as 1-2-3: Pick up a few extra items at the grocery store and the Chico Food Proje...ct team will come to pick up a full bag for you! Sign up here: http://www.chicofoodproject.org/ Don’t forget to mention in the note section that you’re a Chico Noon Rotarian, or a friend of one . This is the perfect project to do together, but apart. Today is the first pick up since we signed up: don't forget to leave your bag outside by 10 a.m. Our bag is stuffed and ready to go, is yours?!
