New Almaden Community Club

Neighbors are invited to attend a meeting (postponed from March) with law enforcement and SCC Parks to discuss road safety and issues with County Parks. Date: Thursday, June 10th at 7pm Where: SCC Horsemen's Association at 20350 McKean Road, San Jose.

June 6th from 8AM-12PM: FREE Defensible Space Community Chipping Program for Fire Safety in New Almaden. The New Almaden Community Club is co-sponsoring "The Santa Clara County FireSafe Defensible Space Chipping Program" again this year. New Almaden is in a designated high fire severity zone. The Santa Clara FireSafe chipping program is a free program to help homeowners protect their property and communities from fire danger. Due to reduced grant funding the FireSafe Defensib...le Space Chipping Program will be limited; applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis this year and are free. Here are some helpful resources for preparing your home for fire: https://sccfiresafe.org/prepare/creating-defensible-space/ If you are interested in taking a deeper dive into the overall wildfire risk in Santa Clara County please see the report below created by County Fire in 2019 at the request of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors (BoS). Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any direct action taken by the BoS to address the wildfire risk presented to them 2 years ago. Given our current drought situation and shifting weather patterns no doubt we are in a more dire position in 2021. Additionally, declining fire insurance coverage in our area and what that means for the protection of our homes and property values. New Almaden Rocks!!! Have you seen the hand-painted rocks on your walk around New Almaden? There were 35 rocks "hidden" around town depicting historical scenes and points of interest. Let us know if you have found any!
