Looking for an activity for your kids? Gold Country Wildlife Rescue needs fresh acorns. We have more than 50 baby squirrels in our care now (eek!) so we could... use your help gathering their natural foods! If you've started noticing acorns (especially green ones) falling from your trees and you'd like to help our wildlife (such as Western Gray Squirrels, Acorn Woodpeckers, and Stellar's Jays) then here's how: collect any acorns into a plastic bag, place them in your freezer, and then bring them down to our Wildlife Intake Center at your earliest convenience. We also can use natural foods such as rose hips, pine cones (green ones are the best), black walnuts, or almonds for our wildlife. Please only gather up these treats if you know they haven't been treated with any type of pesticides or insecticides. You can drop them off any day between 8am and 5pm at 11251 B Avenue, Auburn, CA.
