When do you evaluate? How early is too early? These are all questions we here from parents and all valid concerns! Just like any other milestone, communication skills also have milestones that a toddler must meet. If you’re unsure of what language milestones are typical for your child, don’t hesitate to ask a professional! As much as we all love to google information, asking a professional will give you the most accurate answers.

Meet Malah (pronounced Mayla) Hannula, SLPA Malah has been working as a school-based SLPA for the last 8 years and she absolutely LOVES her job. She recently joined the Nest team and she’s having a blast working in the private setting. She always makes her sessions playful and fun and our kids have the absolute best time with her! When she’s not working she enjoys hiking, reading, and hanging out with her hubby. On a Saturday morning, you would find her making a pour-over a...nd some breakfast burritos before her and her husband head out on a local adventure. If she could be anywhere in the world right now it would be Amsterdam. She’s had the pleasure of visiting this amazing city twice and just can’t get enough of its character, food, and welcoming atmosphere.

Our hearts have been heavy and our minds full. Posting content unrelated to what is happening in ARTSAKH has been difficult and non-existent, for good reason. With that in mind, I began to reflect on our children here in the diaspora and realized that they are the future. It is now more than ever that we should continue teaching our children our mother language, our culture, and our religion, because without it, we will cease to exist. In addition to donating to @armeniafund we can and should continue speaking with our children in Armenian. Teach them our stories, our colors, and about our lands. A child is fully capable of learning multiple language from a young age. Let’s not be afraid to teach them Armenian, for they are the next generation of our country.

It’s been a while guys! It’s functional word Friday, and today one of my favorite words is being featured (which is actually 2 words, but children learn it as a chunk). Why not teach a child a word to help him get out of something he’s no longer interested in? A word that can help decrease communication breakdowns! Most of the time children resort to crying and whining because they don’t have the right words to express themselves. This word is powerful because it allows a child to let you know when he is done with something. (P.s. The sign for all done is waving your hands while your palms face down). Give your kids the power to communicate by teaching them core vocabulary that are powerful
