In the midst of laundry-folding, I stopped at this old Neo shirt, stained with chlorine and hole-ridden from days at the studio. I looked over at his black belt, overused and turning white laying on his desk. And I took this photo to remind us that change is inevitable . And we can all handle whatever the world dishes out. The sun was setting when Jesse came home after working so very hard the last few days with his dad on his truck. We inherited this ol’ girl from my sweet aunt and uncle several years ago now, but there is something refreshing about her new primer coat. It’s a relic of our past and also a renewal, a symbol of beginnings. A happy good luck charm. Jesse comes home extra tired most days, but happy. He is working with his hands, he is creating. I am naturally a very nostalgic pers...on. I like old things. They have character and stories. Neo will be an old thing soon. I keep bringing it up, and I hope I’m not dragging anyone down, but this has been such a process for me personally. I am so glad Neo happened. It really shaped us as adults. I don’t know what the future holds for us as studio owners, but I do know there is a kind man with smile lines and paint on his shirt who is willing to hold his family in one hand and his dreams in the other. I know he is willing to compromise but that he doesn’t forget what he wants in life. For now what he wants is peace of mind, a Yukon being transformed into a pool business vehicle and a healthy family. For now, that is enough See more

Hello friends! Thank you for all your words of support and kindness as we start this next chapter of our lives. Jesse is in the beginning stages of starting a pool service business thanks to our uncle showing him the ropes This is just a quick PSA that Jesse is looking to service more pools in our area! If you know of anyone in the Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland or Ontario areas looking for a pool service person, please consider us! Again, thank you for all your encouragement. This isn’t the end of Neo, just a pause. We are lucky to have this opportunity right now and Jesse is enjoying being outside and learning a new skill!

Dearest friends and family, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are closing Neo’s brick and mortar location. For our students and families, we just sent out an email if you would like to check that out. Here’s a bit from that email that Jesse wrote: Our lease is up in December and we just don't see any way to recover our finances enough to justify renewing that lease. We have also considered in great depth what the operations of the studio would be like if we di...d decide to hold out and re-open after the shutdown, and we don't believe in that vision of Neo. We don't believe in limiting our class sizes to six students. We don't believe in teaching only katas. We don't believe in the impracticality of trying to do what we do with those limitations, and let's face it, this is not going away anytime soon. Neo would have to operate under those stifling restrictions for who knows how long. We will not put our students’ lives at risk because of our own ignorance, and we will not live a lie. We cannot run a business we do not believe in. The only choice for us is to close our doors and let go of Neo for now. We will continue to offer the Habit Studio to anyone who is interested, and we thank you all so much for all the wonderful memories and support you've given us over the years. A teacher only has purpose if he has students to teach, so thank you all so much for giving this teacher purpose by being with us. And thank you all so much for your support and your love! The beautiful thing about letting our business go for now is that it can always be resurrected, unfortunately people cannot. The plan is still to reopen Neo at some point in the future, when life regains some sort of normalcy and it makes sense, so keep following us, because Neo will be back!
