Yesterday, the State announced that older adults 65+ are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. We are so grateful for the community's enthusiasm to get the COV...ID-19 vaccine. We've received just over 3,000 vaccines total in Nevada County that have been allocated from the Federal supply by the State. There are more than 28,000 residents in Nevada County who are 65+, 2x more than the State average. Nevada County also has 3x the population to be vaccinated in Tier 1A than some of our neighboring counties. Nevada County Public Health and local healthcare providers are working to vaccinate Nevada County as quickly, safely and equitably as possible. The guidance for who is prioritized and eligible for the vaccine is ever-changing. Right now Nevada County is busy vaccinating the more than 6,000 people who are in the State’s Phase 1A. Everyone age 65+ will be eligible for the vaccine in Phase 1B. Bookmark www.mynevadacounty.com/coronavirus/vaccine (https://www.mynevadacounty.com/3148/Get-Vaccine-Information) for updates on where we are in our local vaccine rollout. We are working on notification systems for the public to let them know when the vaccine is available to them. If you have questions about which vaccination tier you fall into, call 211 Connecting Point at 1-833-DIAL211 to speak to a local call center agent, 24/7 in English or Spanish.

What is going on this morning Nevada County! I have an awesome opportunity for our veterans to learn how to train their dogs to assist them with grounding and n...ightmare interruption skills. I personally have two dogs and I tell everyone that my female lab, Dolly, is my comfort animal. She is there when I need her and is able to help put me in a good mood when I need it most. 4 Paws 2 Freedom is offering a free 12 week virtual training class to learn how to teach your dog to help you get out of bad dreams and calm you down in times of stress. This class is for pets and will not automatically make your four-legged family member a service animal. For more information check out their webpage: www.4paws2freedom.org See more
