Crew chiefs control anything that happens outside of the cockpit, such as maintenance of the aircraft, cargo storage and ensuring the safety of passengers. In an effort to counter the growing threat of piracy, the Navy deployed the Maritime Raid Force. The MRF specializes in operations conducted on structures in or near bodies of water. They utilize speed and stealth to take enemy forces by surprise and secure their target. The MRF is composed of Marines and Sailors divided into three platoons: force reconnaissance for assault, amphibious reconnaissance for support, and a battalion landing team for security.
