NCAVF is hiring -- need people immediately! 1) We're looking for a case manager -- someone excellent on the phone, smart, organized, and reliable -- to help us track projects and communicate with clients from initial calls through final delivery, and willing to learn and grow with the company. 2) A bookkeeper to track expenses, send invoices, and contact past clients to collect money owed.... Contact us with a cover letter and resume at [email protected]. Have a great day, David
Yesterday taught a hands on workshop on audio forensic clarification at the DFRWS APAC conference. I think all of us had a great time and learned good stuff too! Digital Forensics Research Conference Let me know if you're interested to bring us to speak at your firm or conference.
Who killed Jennifer Schipsi? Habeas Corpus just granted after 7 years working on a case. Very rare ruling from judge who saw that prosecution had over reached with their use of surveillance video to prove guilt during original 2010 trial. Some details are here on our website: https://ncavf.com/blog/judge-rules-habeas-corpus-retrial/
Important business lesson. I recently spoke to graduates of my alma mater about navigating the job market. They sent a fun thank you package -- a personal, nice hand written note and a bunch of other booty. This simple gesture on their part reinforced for me how important it is to show thanks to contacts and clients. In these days of high tech and virtual connections and communications, a hand written note will cut through clutter.
Gratitude humbles us as we remember our simple beginnings and undeserved gifts. Thanksgiving is a day of gratitude where we sit with the people we love and count our blessings together. 2020 has been a bumpy ride for everyone, but it has made us grateful for little things we previously overlooked. It has also made us so much more grateful for you. We’ve watched business after business crash and burn during the pandemic, and we appreciate that you continue to trust us with your evidence and cases. Happy Thanksgiving! The NCAVF team What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?
Attorneys you’re not going to want to miss this. Motion for dismissal granted in high profile case. Judge wrote: This case cannot go forward. Read judges amazing ruling in our NCAVF update email.... https://conta.cc/33GKL5M
Where truth is becoming uncommon, we are steadfast in honesty. Our purpose is bringing clarity to our clients. We take the unclear and make it clear; bring the dark to light, and make sense where there is confusion. Since our first forensics case in 2001, our goal is keeping it real. This is why thousands of people trust us with hundreds of thousands of pieces of evidence, and why we have an impeccable reputation in the courtroom.... This is why you continue to put your trust in NCAVF; because we earned it. Get clarity. At NCAVF, truth still matters.
Have you ever purposely tried to make the jury laugh? If so, what was the joke that got them?

Going from teaching attorneys in person to teaching online has been a challenge, but hey, although it's been difficult, I don't shy away from challenges. They help us grow. Below is a pic from one of my last in person classes in February 2020 at the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and then below that a recent class last week for the DFRWS, the Digital Forensic Research Workshop. I must admit I really enjoy teaching and giving over suggestions that helps attorneys and forensic scientists and experts to do their job better.
Witnesses are often wrong. They're not necessarily lying, but not always do the eyes see the intricate details of a scene, especially in a frenzied situation such as a group fight. We just proved a high school student to be innocent of attacking a fellow student in one such group fight situation. What did we do? We stabilised and slowed down smart phone video evidence taken by another student of the altercation. We proved our client's assertion that he actually came in to he...lp stop the fight. The stabilised video showed our client far in the background while the victim is hit by a different student. Our client was being charged in juvenile court, for a violent crime. Now he is living free as he deserves. #forensics #crime
