Nevada County 4H Horse Project 06.12.2020

If you haven't yet signed up for Nevada County 4H Horse Project....do it now! Your Horse Project Leaders are working to develop meeting plans that comply with all current Covid restrictions while enhancing the learning and fun we have at project meetings. One change will be in regards to our mandatory project orientation. We are currently working on a video orientation for our membership. This will be in lieu of our large in person orientation meeting we usually have at th...e beginning of the year. As soon as the orientation material is available, you will be notified via email. Members must participate in the orientation to attend project meetings. Meetings are tentatively planned for the 1st Saturday of each month at 2 pm at the Martines Ranch. Additional meeting information will be contained within the orientation material. Our first meeting will likely be in December, so please mark your calendar accordingly. We will be looking for some parents to assist as group monitors and Covid compliance "deputies". Please let me know if you would be willing to give us a hand! Thank you for your patience as we work through some of the additional requirements we will need to operate under. I am looking forward to seeing you at our first meeting! Tina Patton, Project Coordinator (530) 268-0155

Hello Horse Project Members! We have not communicated in a while. I think the events relating to our world have many, if not all of us preoccupied. However, I want to make sure we are still doing activities that keep us connected with each other, our animals, and 4H. We had some information up about a virtual showmanship contest, but now we finally have it all together for you to be able to participate! Here is a link to a fun little video that shows one of our leaders and... her horse doing the pattern (I will post pattern in a separate post) as an example for you. To participate in the contest, review the pattern and watch the video. They will also be available on the county 4H website. All you have to do is have someone record you doing your showmanship pattern with your horse. Please do groom your horse nicely. Wear your 4H whites if you have them. If you do not, just dress nicely and wear your boots for safety. Use a show halter and stud chain if you have them. If not, just simply use a regular halter and lead rope. Find a nice open area big enough to do the pattern. You do not have to be in an arena. Practice a bit and then have someone record you with a digital recording device such as a phone or camera. Upload your video to [email protected] using either Google Drive or the web app We Transfer. You do not have to register on We Transfer to be able to send a video. Please note that it may take 30 to 40 minutes for your video to upload to send. Both of these utilities send a link to your video in email. Have your video turned in by August 14. Prizes will be awarded August 17th and yes, we will do so complying with current social distancing standards. https://drive.google.com//1gGoTeCsGRJTvaTL5PL-mviq_vx/view
