OES Engine 317 (staffed with 4 of our Newport Beach Firefighters) is returning home today after battling the Silverado/Blue Ridge Fires since Monday morning. They are healthy and happy to be home in time for Halloween

Currently, the NBFD has multiple units out fighting the Silverado Fire that started early this morning. NB6, NE62, and NE66 are out as a XOR strike team. NE63 is assisting on our OES Engine. Additionally, NE61 and NE64 are providing mutual aid and covering North Orange County. With many units assisting and battling the fire, the NBFD has backfilled the city with people coming in from home, making sure our city is fully staffed and covered. ... #newportbeachfiredepartment

Some more celebrations are in order for 10, 15, 20, 25, and 35 years of service! Thankful for Fire Chief Boyles and Assistant Chief Carr. They both drove around to each station throughout the week to hand deliver each and everyone’s pin. #newportbeachfiredepartment

Our Newport Beach City Council passed a resolution last night recognizing the extraordinary effort put forward by our Newport Beach Fire Department in 2020. O...ver a 43-day period from the end of July through early September, 26 fire personnel and one civilian from the NBFD responded to 13 fires in California. During the presentation, our Fire Chief reminded us that we still have fire fighters in three different counties providing mutual aid, including a crew at the Bobcat Fire. Please continue to pray for our fire fighters and their families during this time in particular. #NewportStrong

US Forest Service - San Bernardino National Forest officials have confirmed the death of one of their firefighters at the El Dorado Fire. Our prayers and condolences are with the family, loved ones, and fellow firefighters.
