Your safety and the safety of all in our community are our first priority at Redding Sunrise Rotary and due to the continued uncertainty of COVID-19, we are unfortunately postponing the Sunrise Rotary Mud Run 2020 Fundraiser until September 18, 2021. The Redding Sunrise Rotary Mud run is our top fundraising event to support scholarships and other educational programs for kids in our area. We plan to continue fundraising under the current state guidelines and we will soon ...announce a couple of new fundraising events that employ social distancing, pack in the family fun, and will help us continue to give back to our community. Orangetheory Fitness Reddingwill be on site to warm up each wave of runners. Orangetheory is a coach-inspired group workout designed to produce results from the inside out, you'll love them! Today is a Terrific Tuesday and the perfect day to celebrate Nash Ranch. Bob Nash is one of our amazing Sunrise Rotary members who is deeply involved in community and annually opens Nash Ranch up for our Club to Fundraise through this Mud Run. We thought it would be fun to share a few fun facts about Nash Ranch to get you ready for the big day (September 21st!) Most people in Redding know the Nash Ranch as the Pumpkin Patch. Here are a few fun facts about Nash Ranch (1) Th...e ranch property now known as the Nash Ranch first came into existence in 1865 when two 160 acre land patents on Stillwater Creek were granted to Union Army Veterans of the American Civil War. (2) The original 280 acre ranch was developed by Shasta County pioneer, Littleton Dryden, the ranch being known as the Dryden Ranch into the 1950’s. (3) The ranch changed hands a couple times until purchased by Louis Nash, Bob’s dad, in 1953. (4) The Nash’s Pond was built in 1958. (5) Louis Doc Nash developed irrigation on the property and flood irrigated alfalfa and cow pasture utilizing water from Stillwater Creek and the Pond since 1960. (6) Bob assumed operation of the ranch in 1985 with his wife Mary and their children, Louis, Kristen and Mackenzie. (7) in 1989 they added fresh market sweet corn and fresh cut field grown gladiolus flowers to the mix. (7) The first pumpkin crop in 1991 was a quarter acre of varietal experimentation which became a fledgling operation the next year known as Nash Ranch Pumpkin Patch. (8) The Corn Maze was added in 1998 (9) The first haunted house was added in 2006. (10) A key feature of the ranch is Stillwater Creek, a rich and diverse natural habitat with a myriad of animal species. If you love family, friends and community, this event is for you! You can run, walk or simply spectate the event. This day is open for all to join. Gather your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, everyone and come join the fun on September 21st (1st wave starts at 10am, checkin begins at 9am).
