This is one of the prime reasons we were not keen on reopening Mylapore. It is not fair to employees that we hire them and then furlough them within weeks. We are very clear that Mylapore Express will only be reopened when we get a clear reading on COVID.

Several hundreds of families were disappointed that they could not get Diwali Sweets and snacks as the pre-order window closed as soon as it opened in just 2 da...ys. Here is a second chance opportunity. We will have sweets and snacks available for ordering / shipping countrywide later in November. Please stay tuned for further details.

The memories are still vivid as if it happened yesterday. July 2008, my friend Uma Ram visited me from Singapore and stayed with me for a week. One day she asked me, "Jay, have you thought of opening a restaurant". My answer was a very confident, determined "no". Reason : I had my hands full. Little did I realize that I would open Mylapore three months later. The restaurant name "Mylapore" was conceived in 1991 when I was working for Park Sheraton, Chennai. It was all put tog...ether in a hurry, not well thought of or planned. The economy was at it's lowest ebb. The Dow was at 6500, banks were failing, AAPL was $85, CMG was at $40, BAC @ $2.35, Citi @ 0.97...I even thought that I should have probably bought 1000 shares of AAPL instead of getting into this business. Everyday would bring in bad news. Mortgage & Real Estate melt down, Bear Stearns, Washington Mutual, Lehman Brothers etc. We survived the rocky weather, during the first 5 years, thanks to all your support. Today 10/26/2020 marks the 12th birthday of Mylapore. As we step into our 13th year, I would like thank a few people, who made this dream possible : 1. My Wife Sudha Jayaraman who has been a huge pillar of support. 2. My In-Laws : Premlatha Venkitaraman and Venkitaraman Venkatasubramonian countless hours of planning and hard work. 3. My mom : Sankari Venkitu My inspiration every day even today. 4. Ramadurai Ram and Uma Ramadurai : Encouraging words all the time. 5. Viswa Krishnamurthy (Vichu) : My Favorite cousin, Huge support, always positive, ever optimistic. 6. Spandan Patel : My Guru and my mentor in this field. 7. My staff who value quality over anything else. I must mention a few names here : My former Chefs Viswanathan, Sudhaagar, Manoj, Usman Bhai. My present team : Tamil, Kamal, Adhil, Azizi, Anil, Naseer, Ramesh, Rajeevan, Alma, Yazmin and others. Arjunan Ramkumar : He cares more about Mylapore than I do..!! This is a dream winning team..! 8. My kids, especially my then teenage daughter Tanvi Jayaraman and my then ten year old son Arjith Jayaraman, both of whom needed me the most. Thanks for letting me pursue my dream. Sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me the most . I let you figure it all by yourself. 9. All the folks at INTC.. you have always been there for us.. There are innumerable friends that contributed Savitri Bala Aarthi Bhanusekar Satish Ramanathan Rugmani Rajan Venkat Jeyaraman my nephew and many more who have directly and indirectly contributed to our little dream. Dosas are South Indian pan cakes. We train you for 4 weeks to become an expert dosa cook, we will pay you $14 per hour while on training. Upon completion of training $16.50 per hour. Job also involves some prepping of vegetables.

We are moving..! This October 26th we will complete 12 years at the current location. What was once Good Fellas became Mylapore South Indian Vegetarian on Oct 26, 2008 a little 40 seater, hole in the wall eatery. ... During the 12 years of existence we have witnessed a major real estate melt down / mortgage crisis and we are in the midst of a pandemic. We weathered the first one and with your support we will get past the second too. Now as we step into our 13th year of existence we will be moving to a larger location in the same building.
