"Sensory friendly" can't exist, because everyone has different sensory profiles. What is friendly to one person is hostile to another. I would much prefer to ...see sensory accessibility, in which people have options, and we recognize that sensory accessibility is a disability accomodation, not just a nice thing that is occasionally offered to be "friendly." "Sensory friendly" often looks like reduced stimulus and fidgets, but that doesn't work for everyone. + Rp @elwingbling . Part of it is that we inherited and made our own the voices of those who hurt us and shamed us when we were children we tell ourselves... to toughen up or let it go or get over it or don’t be so ________ because we were bombarded with those words when we were young and needed compassion and guidance and comfort and explanations for a world that could be so confusing and scary and cruel and uncaring or exploitative of our tenderness and openness we walk around with wounded inner children inside us and we move through life feeling, choosing, reacting as our wounded inner child does, responding in our adult lives as children who were hurt and did not get what they needed, but who were also shamed for being hurt and for needing we never get what we need because no one can fill those needs, our wounded inner child belongs only to our adult self now we have forgotten to and now need to become the adult who will be kind and healing and compassionate to our own wounded inner child [image description: drawing of a child’s face and text, people forget how difficult it is to be a child] See more

Family Tree Wellness is offering a beautiful free online community gathering and ritual for parents who've lost babies. Honoring Losses: A Community Ritual for Pregnancy and Infant Loss will take place on October 29 at 6pm. If your grief is still too tender to be seen, you don't have to turn your camera on. Join us anyway. Parents need a space to be held in their agony - where it's ok to cry and where they're invited to be completely honest about their broken hearts. Grief needs companionship. Please spread the word - and join us yourself if you could use such a space. Register here: https://www.familytreewellness.org//honoring-losses-free-c

Just because an autistic person doesn't display certain stereotypical symptoms of autism doesn't mean they're not autistic. In the past you would have to displa...y every single symptom of autism to be diagnosed as autistic, but that method was thrown out because of how incorrect it was. Not every autistic acts like the caricature of autism that you have in your head. #AutieBiographical #ActuallyAutistic #SliceOfLife

"Your I don’t need anyone, I’ll just do it all myself conditioning is a survival tactic. And you needed it to shield your heart from abuse, neglect, betrayal, and disappointment from those who could not or would not be there for you. From the parent who was absent and abandoned you by choice or the parent who was never home from working three jobs to feed and house you. From the lovers who offered sexual intimacy but never offered a safe haven that honored your heart.... From the friendships and family who ALWAYS took more than they ever gave." See more
