MPA Event Graphics 31.10.2020

This article about the Bahrain Night Half Marathon from the online publication "LetsRun.com" hits on so many of the points I've been writing about on my Signage Nerd blog. (https://mpagraphics.com/signage-nerd/). Be sure to view the video of the finish -- the poor announcer is bereft of information but also of the ability to improvise in a difficult situation, adding the amateurish atmosphere of what was supposed to be a big-time event. It's almost impossible to say enough bad things about the signage (what there was of it or could be seen in the dark), the lighting, the overall atmosphere of utter disarray. More than $350K worth of prize money and for what? Ugh. Here's the link: https://www.letsrun.com//chaos-reigns-at-inaugural-bahrai/.

It's 6 am on Ocean Blvd. in Santa Monica at the finish line of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. We are putting the finishing touches on the set and I am especially happy with the street graphic, designed by our in-house artist, Chelsie Robinson. Size is 32' x 8'. Adds a lot, don't you think? Bravo to our crew from Socket Events, led by Larry Ramona. Best set-up guys in the business.

So why in the world would a signage guy be talking about race announcing? It’s simple really: as an event signage supplier I’m more accurately in the athlete experience business. What my company does can have a lot to do with how participants feel about a race. And like signage, what an announcer says, and how she/he says it, can have a big impact in how an event is perceived... https://mpagraphics.com//the-difference-a-voice-can-make-/

Just added a Street Graphics page on the MPA website. We've been working with a product called Asphalt Art now for some time, but we're seeing new interest in 2019. There are so many cool uses for this material -- branding, wayfinding, promotion, you name it. Hope you'll check it out: https://mpagraphics.com/product/street-graphics/

Here's a nice-looking trade show footprint for a new MPA Event Graphics client. (We did not supply the trussing.) HYROX is a gym-based multi-activity competition from Upsolut Sports America Inc. with events so far in Germany and Austria. Sounds like you'll see it in the US in 2019. Looks interesting: https://hyrox.com/en/

We spotted this shot of one of our new tents for V-8 Energy by photographer David McElwaine in a photo gallery from last Sunday's (Oct 7) "unpredictable and wild" Oz Trails Off-Road race in Bentonville, AR. Our client is race production company Epic Rides, and we were happy to be part of the action. Velo News called the race an "instant classic" https://www.velonews.com//the-most-epic-day-of-epic-rides_

I've been drinking coffee before my workouts for 40 years and more, but I never thought I'd actually be in the coffee business. Blast Radius is the coffee I wish I had been drinking all those many mornings. I hope you'll check out the site, like our page, maybe order some coffee. Thanks in advance for your support. -- MP
