Troop 80 trail is getting some upgrades! Troop 80 will be closed starting Sunday, 1/10 and reopening on 1/16 for trail work and bridge repair. Access at both ends will be closed, and we appreciate your support in planning your visit to include other trails in the area. Mount Tamalpais State Park 08.01.2021

EXTENDED until 5pm Monday 12/7, gates will remain closed until Tuesday 12/8 at 0700. Mt. Tam State Park will be going into fire closure this evening at 11pm and opening tomorrow at 11 am. Pantoll and Bolinas-Fairfax gates will remain closed until 11 am. Access to the upper mountain is allowed by foot or by bicycle.

Final Astronomy program of the season! Our speaker, Dr. Pascal Lee, is a planetary scientist at the Mars Institute and at the SETI Institute. He also directs the Haughton-Mars Project at NASA Ames Research Center. He argues that advanced civilizations may well be extremely rare. In fact, Dr. Lee estimates that N ~ 1. Mount Tamalpais State Park 05.12.2020

UPDATE 10/27- The mountain is fully open. UPDATE 10/23 1000 hours: Mt. Tam State Park will keep the upper mountain closed through Monday, Oct 26th. The Park will reopen at 1100 on Tuesday morning, barring any unforeseen circumstances.... The current Marin County Fire Department red flag has been extended to Friday morning. MMWD is keeping the Bolinas Fairfax road closed through Sunday. In cooperation with MMWD and Marin County, Mt. Tam State Park will keep the Bolinas Fairfax entry/exit gate CLOSED through at least Sunday. The upper Mountain may open on Friday morning, but all traffic will have to pass through the Pantoll Gate. There will be signs at the Pantoll Gate reminding visitors to exit through Pantoll.

UPDATE 10/21 Red Flag extended until Friday, 10/23, 0800 Bolinas-Fairfax road will continue to be closed.... Per Marin County Fire Department, we are going into Red Flag tonight, 10/19/20. The red flag will be lifted Wednesday, 10/21, at 8am. Fires are prohibited at Pantoll, Bootjack and Steep Ravine area. The upper mountain will be closed at Pantoll/Panoramic and Bolinas-Fairfax/W. Ridgecrest. Information will be updated here and at the Mt. Tam Parks webpage. Please call our Park public line at (415) 388-2070.

UPDATE: 10/16 @ 1000 CLOSURE EXTENDED UNTIL 6 PM tonight. This will go into our regular closure time, Mt. Tam will be reopening tomorrow( 10/17 ) at 0700. Mt. Tam State Park is going into Red Flag on Wednesday, 10/14/20 at 0500 hours, and will be lifting the closure on Friday, 10/16/20 at 1100 hours. Upper Mountain will be closed to vehicles at Pantoll/Panoramic and W. Ridgecrest/Bolinas-Fairfax during the closure. Bikers and Hikers may still access the upper mountain. All fires at Pantoll, Bootjack and Steep Ravine will be prohibited Wednesday/Thursday/Friday morning. 9/30/20, 1100 EXTENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Mt. Tam State Park will be going into Red Flag closure on Saturday evening at 9pm ( 9/26/20 ). Closures will include the upper Mountain-the Pantoll/Panoramic gate and the Bolinas-Fairfax/W. Ridgecrest gate will remain closed all Sunday, Sept 27. Campgrounds will remain open ( Pantoll, Bootjack and Steep Ravine ), but fires will be prohibited at all locations. Please call (415) 388-2070 for more information.
