Navigating Jewish burial in the age of Coronavirus. Thank you Rabbi Kipnes and Jewish Journal for the kind words in addressing this topic. We continue to care for our communities and loved ones during this time, ensuring tradition and safety are thoughtfully met with dignity. Together, we navigated an uncharted process, striking a balance between caring for the deceased and protecting mourners and staff. Having intimate knowledge of Mount Sinai’s dedication and commitment from tragedies in my own life, I knew that we were in the very best of hands.- Rabbi Paul Kipnes
We at Mount Sinai are first in line on the front line of compassion. We are here honoring the deceased and more importantly, taking care of the living, and their family and friends. -Kimber Sax Shabbat Shalom from our Mount Sinai family to yours

Amidst the chaos we are reminded to find solace and beauty in the little things. We are forever grateful for our Mount Sinai community and we are stronger together.
On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust and the millions of others who perished at the hands of the Nazi regime. We also honor the struggle of the survivors those who lived through the darkest of days in modern Jewish history and overcame the seemingly unimaginable. Survivors like Sophie and Abraham Hamburger, who both survived concentration camps in Poland and Germany and went on to build rich and loving lives in L...os Angeles. Sophie and Abraham’s grandson, Jeff Schlesinger, shared this moving photo with Mount Sinai to honor his grandparents’ legacy. Pictured here is Sophie holding her great granddaughter Abigail in her arms. Abigail is named in loving memory of her great grandfather Abraham. From generation to generation, we will remember. Now, Sophie rests at Mount Sinai beside her husband Abraham. May Sophie and Abraham’s memory and the memory of all victims of the Holocaust be a blessing. Together, we say Never Again.
May God bless you and keep you May God cause the divine light to shine upon you and be gracious to you May God turn toward you, and grant you peace Shabbat Shalom!
Judaism in the age of Coronavirus. How sitting Shiva by Zoom is bringing families together in ways we could have never imagined. A virtual hug isn’t a real hug, and sometimes I felt very empty. And yet, there was also something very special, a community of people from all over the world that came together around my mother and for me. Read more here:

In the darkest of times, the Jewish people have found ways to sanctify life. This Passover, the question Why is this night different from all other nights not only earned new meaning but was relatable for us all, especially our children. Despite the hardships we are facing, we gathered over screens to creatively celebrate and sanctify Jewish life; holding on to traditions while allowing Jewish life to be a light in the darkness. Generation after generation, we tell our story and are reminded that we are stronger when we come together to honor our heritage and loved ones. This Shabbat, may we all bring in the light and remember the afikomen - the symbol of hope. Shabbat Shalom.

How do we connect the ancient story of Exodus to modern struggles for freedom as we navigate these unprecedented times? The Haggadah teaches us the story of resilience as a people in times of grief and uncertainty. Just like the combination of matzah, maror and charoset teach us that life can be dry, sweet and sometimes bitter; our Mount Sinai community knows that when we rise to a challenge and honor perseverance, we can accomplish great things together. Chag Pesach Sameach!
