When we watch the natural rhythms of nature, we get a little closer to soul. There is nothing that replaces the magic of being quiet in the wilderness...under the full moon. The sounds, smells and sights are totally different than the day-world and are fantastic to experience. As I was walking on the trail during a foraging hike today the light caught my eye...I noticed the sun was filtering through my favorite California oak tree and snapped this photo. When I’m connected to the land so deeply that I notice how the light changes with different trees, I know I’m on the right path. The folks with me were inspired when we stopped and took the time to notice.

Thank you to all the women that showed up for our beautiful full moon hike. It was a spectacularly beautiful evening full of awe... We are stronger and more powerful when we walk together, side by side, fierce and flawed! I am eternally grateful for the moon, teaching us to shine while resting comfortably in our shadow. I cherish my shadows for their insight, their gifts of growth and compassion. Every time I walk beneath the full moon I greet my moon-shadow by welcoming its visible manifestation attached to me. I think about who I was a year (or 5!) ago and give gratitude for the hardships & struggles that I’ve overcome to be here right now. It is, after all, all we’ve got, and for that I am deeply grateful!

What a wonderful mid-winter treat! We found these in our forage today, 2 different colored Trumpet-shaped mushrooms: chanterelles and horn-of-plenty (or black trumpets)...YUM. Some of the black trumpets are going into clarified butter and the rest will go into our dinner soup. What shall I do with the chanties?
